Putin Opposes Mandatory Jabs, Says People Should Get Vaccinated Without Coercion

Russian President Vladimir Putin says that while people need to get vaccinated to "overcome this pandemic," nobody's job should be on the line if they refuse.

Speaking last weekend during a meeting with the governing United Russia party ahead of next month's parliamentary elections, Putin said "We need to do everything we can to overcome this pandemic," adding "and the best tool we have in this fight is vaccination."

"Vaccination is the main weapon against the spread of the virus. Importantly, no one should be forced to get a jab. Pressure, where people may lose their jobs, is even less acceptable. People must be convinced of the need to get the vaccine," he said.

"This must be done persistently and respectfully. People should be convinced of the need to get vaccinated in order to save their lives and health, and to protect their loved ones."

Russian President Vladimir Putin has recently come out against forcing citizens in Russia to get vaccinated through coercion, particularly through threatening their employment.

As Russian state-funded RT notes, "On Friday, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko announced that more than 43 million people have had one of the country’s four domestically made coronavirus vaccines. However, this number, he said, “is not enough yet” and “we will feel safer when the number of people who have protection against infection reaches more than 80%.” At present, close to one in four Russians has been immunized against the virus, and it is unclear how many more may have developed antibodies after being infected with the virus across the nation."

Putin's comments appear to be at odds with official policy throughout several sectors of the Russian economy. In Moscow, for example, "companies in industries such as hospitality, leisure and transport must demonstrate that 60% of their staff have been vaccinated or else face hefty fines. Officials have confirmed that businesses can send home employees without pay if they refuse, in order to meet the quotas."

I watched Putin’s recent press conference in Germany with Merkel. Two things jumped out

When asked about the USA’s bungled withdrawal in Afghanistan, he said something to the effect: “We ourselves know all about war in Afghanistan, and emphasizing the US failure does not serve our interests”

When asked about leftist/woke western culture he said: “We merely seek to make Russia a stable and predictable society. Russia has had enough of revolutions in the 20th century, and we have no interest in that.”

I’ve been following him since they accused Trump of “colluding with Russia,” and he’s never said anything objectionable to me as an American. If he’s an enemy of the USA, he’s the coolest and most rational one ever.

If you were MSM, you would probably have the first lines as your reaction. Upon learning that it was Putin that made the statements you would do an instantaneous 180 turn and say the lines after the italicized statement.

My post was a swipe at the knee jerk reactions of our MSM to anyone that disagrees with the party line about the vaccines.

I remember I became a junior in high school in 1983, I jus turned 17 and got my license and own car. I remember I learned a lot from my German teacher, Herr B., where he warned us that if we are not careful, we can lose a lot of our freedoms. My favorite presentation he did was when he took the class over to Switzerland, Germany, Austria and that included a trip into East Germany in 1979. He said the East Germans were nice but aloof around Westerners.

This was when KAL-007 was just shot down and just before Grenada. I asked this question for "shats and giggles" in class. "What if in the future the USA became the USSR and the USSR became the USA?" I got a chill down my back then, I got a lot of weird looks but some say that it could happen. I fear, if we continue on this path, I will get he answer to my question now that I'm 55 to what I asked when I was 17. I remember my grandmother always said I had a gift of insight although I hope I'm wrong here but I fear not. I get that same chill down my sine today thinking about it.

Herr B., like most of us, were elated that the Communists fell in the 1989-91 time period and was optimistic but I think in the 1990's we lost a lot of opportunities to engage Russia and we are paying for it. Unfortunately, we lost Herr B. to kidney cancer in 1993, I'd love to hear what he would say now but I really know how he with think of today's world.

In junior high, I had Frau W. for s German teacher and she was born in the Free City of Danzig in 1920 (now Gdansk) where Solidarity started). She had interesting stories too.
