Ed Asner, legendary actor, activist and philanthropist, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, surrounded by family. He was 91.
Asner, former president of the Screen Actors Guild, is best known for his role as Lou Grant on both The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spinoff Lou Grant, pulling off the extremely rare feet of playing the same character in both a comedy and a drama series.

Will he still be voting for Rats?
He drifted out to Missoula some time ago and stunk the place up, above and beyond its day-to-day rot.
Finally!
His first act will be telling Satan how to run his life.
Ditto
:)
A shame, his politics. He and the MTM cast were a perfect ensemble.
Wow.
His name rings a bell, but I have no idea what he did that made him famous.
Attacking fellow FR members is a big no-no.
‘activist’
He had a ‘thing’ about urine didn’t he?
Eternal rest grant unto him.
Good actor. Pretty pathetic as a pundit on life.
‘There is no peace without following Jesus Christ.’
so the millions of people who lived prior to the first century AD never knew any peace in their lives...?
who knew...?
Rare feet. The man had rare feet.
I can’t muster any sympathy for him. His real career, his real passion, wasn’t in television. It was in the pursuit of psychopathic hatred. The man spent the last 40 years of his life supporting dictatorship, tyranny, terror and starvation while spewing vile insults and crackpot theories against the friends of freedom, order and prosperity.
‘But he was a damn good actor.’
meh; he was okay, a typical character actor...
I was just watching him on MTM last night. What amazing comic timing and facial expressions. Him as Lou Grant was comedy gold. May he RIP. I don’t care about his politics.
And he pulled them off.
At will I guess!?!
Asner was among a long list of Communist actors and artists in Hollywood, TV, and entertainment. I once heard that John Garfield was a Communist, as were Charlie Chaplin, Jean Seeburg, Sean Penn, Danny Glover, Harry Belafonte, Jane Fonda, and others. These might be up for debate, but I don’t care.
He also seems to have both reveled in and cringingly and hypocritically distanced himself from the horrifying Communist perpetrated atrocities and genocide the extreme left is guilty of during the 20th Century. When you are a Hollywood celeb, you can do and think anyway you please, as long as you are an entitled elite. Thank you, Ed.
