The M class flare listed at spaceweather.com will mess with HAM radios and light up the night sky at higher latitudes. M class are medium.

*IF* the sun points an X8 or higher at the earth, then it’s time to electrically hunker down and have your 30 day preps checked. Not a population killer, but X8-10 (logarithmic scale) can affect the grid.

It’s NOT like a nuclear EMP that fries digital gizmos. You have plenty of warning. When the time comes, open the main breaker between you and the grid and if you feel compelled, unplug sensitive electronics in your home.
