But he was a Republican; McAuliffe is a Democrat. Do not forget how in 2002 the New Jersey Supreme Court allowed the Democrats to change their candidate for Senate from Torricelli to Lautenberg even though the state law said that they could not do so after a certain deadline. Democrats do not have to follow the law.

Oh, please! As if democrats care about, or are ever bound by, rules. Does anyone remember when the dems put the cadaver Frank Lautenberg on the ballot to replace the utterly corrupt Bob Torricelli in the NJ senate race back in 2002? The NJ Supreme Court allowed the dems to violate election law to replace Torricelli within 60 days of the election in early November.

McAuliffe will be on the ballot, and he will "win" re-election.
