Johnson & Johnson said Wednesday that a second shot of its COVID-19 vaccine eight months after the initial dose was found in a study to increase people's immunity to the disease, raising antibody levels nine-fold.

NY Times reports: Pfizer and BioNTech say a third shots boosts antibodies against the virus. A third shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s Covid vaccine sharply increases the levels of antibodies against the coronavirus, the companies reported on Wednesday. The companies said they are now applying to the Food and Drug Administration for supplemental approval of the booster shot for those aged 16 and up, and will submit all their supporting data by the end of this week. (antibody rise is similar to the first two shots)

Moderna announced (25 Aug) it has completed the rolling submission process for its Biologics License Application (BLA) to the FDA, for the full licensure of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine.

SecDef Austin is mandating that US Military Service members get fully vaccinated against Covid-19 immediately, now that the vaccine is FDA approved. In his (24 Aug 2021) memo, Austin said he is directing the Military Department Services to "immediately begin full vaccination" of all Armed Forces members or in the Ready Reserve, including the National Guard, who are not yet fully vaccinated.

The United States will provide an additional 1 million coronavirus vaccine doses to Vietnam, Vice President Kamala Harris announced Wednesday.

Walt Disney Co's cruise division said on Tuesday it will require vaccination proof from all passengers above the age of 12 traveling from Florida to the Bahamas.

Delta Air Lines announced Wednesday a financial penalty, and a host of other rules, for unvaccinated employees--becoming perhaps the first large U.S. company to do so. CEO Ed Bastian wrote in a public memo that unvaccinated Delta employees on the company's healthcare plan will be charged $200 extra a month starting November 1. Unvaccinated employees also will start getting tested weekly on September 12 for as long as local transmission rates remain high, and must wear masks while on the job, effective immediately.

NY Post reports: Study indicates Delta variant is less infectious in fully vaccinated people. The Dutch study (https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.08.20.21262158v1.full-text ) found that fully vaccinated people with the Delta variant were less infectious than unvaccinated individuals who tested positive for the initial COVID strain that is less contagious. The findings are only preliminary and have not yet been peer reviewed.

Infection Control Today reports: Vaccines Not as Effective Against Delta Variant, say CDC Data.
