Cover of Get Your Ya-Ya’s Out album....
Does everyone already know the meaning of that cover?
“Jewels and binoculars
hang from the head
of the mule
But these visions of Johanna,
they make it all seem so cruel.”
—Visions of Johanna by Bob Dylan (1966)
Had two of his all time greatest lines....
“Ain’t it just like the night to play tricks when you’re tryin’ to be so quiet?
We sit here stranded, though we’re all doin’ our best to deny it.”

Ringo looks fantastic at 80. It certainly wasn’t due to clean living, he partied it up with Moonie in the 70s. Ringo has been clean as a whistle for decades now, though.

Charlie briefly got hooked on heroin in the 80s IIRC.

Several years? LOL! We saw that show in Orlando and ‘carloss satan-a’ opened for them. We had seats near the little stage the bridge swung out to.
From wikipedia:
The tour began on 9 September 1997 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and comprised fifty-six shows in North America, nine shows in South America, six shows in Japan and thirty-seven shows in Europe. It concluded on 19 September 1998 in Istanbul, Turkey.
Time flies when we’re having fun. LOL!

Didn’t Charlie’s wife just have a baby?

From Rolling Stone and various sources:
Jagger once phoned Watts’ hotel room in the midst of an all-night party asking “Where’s my drummer?” Watts reportedly got up, shaved, dressed in a suit, put on a tie and freshly shined shoes, descended the stairs, and punched Jagger in the face, saying: “Don’t ever call me your drummer again. You’re my f***ing singer!”

As a long time Stones fan and a drummer, this makes me sad. Even thought the Stones already have a replacement drummer for their tour since Charlie dropped out, I hope Mick and Keith cancel a few dates in honor of Charlie. Mick and Keith are the only founding members left.
Best to his family.

Bill Wyman is 84 now, but he left years ago.

Not the one I would have expected to go next.
Cue the Keith Richards meme.

Of course. I was referring to the present lineup.

Hell of a run for a rocker but Charlie was probably the cleanest of the bunch. RIP man.

Steve is the drummer for Keith’s Xpensive Winos band, so he knows the playbook. We’re seeing them at the Cotton Bowl in November.

Yep. His drum set was just completed. Do you think they’ll continue the tour?

Great story about Watts. He was faithful to his wife all those years. When the Stones went to the Playboy manison while all the boys were partying he went to the game room and shot billiards while the rest...well you know. He always avoided situations that would cause temptation.
