Yes, it is. It’s the result of fraudulently electing a senile old man controlled by puppets with barely more sense than himself. It spends its time nowadays (when he’s not on vacation - or his press secretary) ducking the hard questions while fumbling and stumbling through the gimme interviews and obedient press conferences where he just walks away silently wondering what kind of pudding Doktor Jill is gonna give him before she puts him down for his afternoon nappy....

It wasn’t just the Ministry of Propaganda that helped install the Idiot Biden, the GOP assisted in the Big Steal.

BOTH parties wanted Trump gone.

That warranted its own vanity thread? Just asking because that’s not a news bulletin. We know they’re hostages and always were.

Bannon has referred to our Americans left behind in Kabul as hostages for days.

Good point. We all should be using hostages in commenting and our daily discussions with others. Abandoned is also a better word than stranded.

When you are unable to move about freely, must dodge check points manned by armed militants, hide from your former friends because you fear they may hand you over to save themselves or to leave a situation then you are a "hostage" plain and simple.

I've lost track -- are we talking about Afghanistan, or COVID?

That’s how the Muslims have always done it. It’s actually the reason for the Marines.

In the late 18th and early 19th century, the Muslims were marauding throughout the Mediterranean and had virtually shut down shipping. At one point, it is thought that they had something like 250,000 Europeans and Americans in captivity. Jefferson got sick of it and that’s why the Marines were established and sent to Tripoli.

The hostage were often ransomed by family members or by groups dedicated to this. Early on, entire Spanish religious orders had been founded to ransom hostages, either by raising money or by offering themselves in their stead.

But since we don’t study real history any more, nobody knows this…otherwise, anybody could have seen this coming.

No, there are aren't any "Americans" left there. Its all propaganda. Are you saying there are trapped NGO heads, diplomats, CEOs and tourists on holiday who were just stuck there, surprised by the Taliban takeover in lovely, peaceful, Afghanistan? LOL!

Sure, there's a couple hundred thousand undocumented, unvetted migrants who no doubt the DNC, Catholic Relief Services and George Soros will claim are "americans" who must be moved into US towns and cities immediately.

Hostages if they’re lucky and weren’t left there to die.

THE MARINES’ HYMN

From the Halls of Montezuma
To the shores of Tripoli
We fight our country’s battles
In the air, on land and sea.

The "Marines' Hymn" is the official hymn of the United States Marine Corps, introduced by the first director of the USMC Band, Francesco Maria Scala. Its music originates from an 1867 work by Jacques Offenbach with the lyrics added by an anonymous author at an unknown time in the following years. Authorized by the Commandant of the Marine Corps in 1929, it is the oldest official song in the United States Armed Forces.

Why the Corps were on the shores of Tripoli

United States relations with what is now Libya have a complex history going back to America’s first decades. Although two other North African states, Morocco and Tunisia, were among the first countries in the world to recognize the USA diplomatically, the new nation soon fought the Barbary Wars in the Mediterranean over attacks on its ships by pirates from Tripoli—the origin of the “shores of Tripoli” reference in the Marines’ Hymn.

President Thomas Jefferson became the first US president to bypass Congress and take the nation to war in 1801. It was the First Barbary War of 1801-1805. It was also a war of many firsts: the first foreign war fought by the US after the American Revolution, the first time an American soldier shed blood on foreign soil, the first time the US Marines saw battle, and the first time the Stars and Stripes were raised over foreign soil after a military victory.

If I was the taliban I would absolutely hold them as hostages and extract tens of billions of dollars and whatever else I wanted from President Sock Puppet.

What would I have to fear from his incompetent, cowardly administration?

I think we know that we have trash for senior officers. On Fox an SF man stated he had trained Afghan SF who were good to start. Then the MGMT. by stats made him graduate punk officers who fell asleep in combat. The Afghans never did much as they let the US fight. In Vietnam and Cambodia my Rhade yards would charge machine guns. Our Gens. suck.
