Troops from NATO member states, including the U.S., U.K. and France, are all working in Kabul to remove citizens and Afghans eligible for resettlement out of the country. But there isn’t a coordinated effort between the allies to communicate with the Taliban or ensure people get to the Hamid Karzai International Airport safely, Pentagon officials acknowledged on Thursday.
Taliban fighters have set up a series of checkpoints on roads leading up to the airport to the north of Kabul, where people eligible for safe passage under a deal worked out between the U.S. and Taliban leaders is not being honored, according to several reports from on the scene.
U.K. officials told The Guardian that the worry is U.S. forces could leave and the British Army contingent is unable to secure the airport. The U.K. has dispatched 900 troops from the British Army’s 16 Air Assault Brigade as a separate military force to collect British citizens and Afghan allies as part of its Operation Pitting.
“We don’t have the capability to go out and collect up large numbers of people,” Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said on Aug. 18

Im guessing that the US would demand that any “coordinated effort” be headed up by a US general. So I dunno. Maybe the other allies would be better off working on their own.

The way things look right now, Americans will be left behind in Afghanistan and what is even more predictable with this president is that the entire nation will be left behind when the SHTF. That we still accept this clown in the WH only shows how feeble minded Americans are. Any other nation would have rid itself from such a leader.
The events of 1/6 seem to be of more importance to this regime than what is taking place in Afghanistan where American lives are in real danger. It is too late now to blame it on Trump, so it is convenient to abandon our citizens.

And how about activating some of that 'over the horizon ' capability General Mills keeps talking about, and demonstrate some "consequences" for the Taliban.
