I will not go there again until the stop this nonsense
“This figure might be stale, but I read a few years ago there are only around 50,000 full time residents living in Venice.”
That figure excludes the mainland part of Venice.
Guess the got hank johnson’s tip over memo?
I was there last, end of November 2014, given the time of year it was still super busy. I was happy to hear they finally banned those enormous cruise ships, which basically cast a shadow of St marks square,
Does Venice smell funny with all that water ?
I like this plan, actually. You can’t enjoy the city when there are tens of thousands milling about, and it must be a nightmare for locals. Last time I went it was ridiculously crowded.
My wife and I once took a 22 day journey through Europe, starting in Madrid and ending in Rome. One of our stops was in Lugano, Switzerland, one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited. The scenery was amazing and it was so clean you could eat off of the street. Our next stop after that was Venice. Garbage floating in the water, everybody trying to rip you off, gondola hats with labels saying Made in China. It was the worst stop on our trip and it soured me so much I would never go back.
I thought Venice was sinking?
Been sinking since the last time I was there (circa 1992).
Quick, visit San Marcos square before it disappears.
Better charge 20 Eur.
