85 years ago: Stalin's Political Military Purge

85 years ago tomorrow, the "Trial of the Sixteen" was held in Moscow, the opening of Stalin's Show Trials. Stalin suffered personal paranoia at the belief, perhaps not unfounded, that everyone was out to get him, that ultimately prompted him to purge the military of all officers above the rank of Major. When Hitler turned on Stalin, there was no one qualified to lead the Russians away from being cannon fodder. Defendants wept with gratitude as they were allowed to confess to crimes they made up out of their imaginations.

Hitler courteously bows low to Stalin, murmuring, 'The scum of the earth I believe?' and Stalin replies: 'The bloody assassin of the workers, I presume?' - British cartoonist David Low, the Evening Standard, September 20, 1939

This is a part of Russian history the Russians don't really like to talk about or the fact the Old Adolf and Old Joe were quite chummy up until June of 1941.

They don't go much into how they invaded Poland two weeks after Nazi Germany did or their near disastrous war with Finland in the winter of 1939/40.

The purges probably saved Stalin from being taken out in a coup.

Not every officer above the rank of major was purged. And purged does not mean executed or sent to the gulags. About 30% of those “purged” were thrown out of the party. Many were brought back after the war started one of the best known being Konstantin Rokossovsky. Some, like Zhukov, were not affected.
The purge did remove many talented higher ranking officers from the Tukhachevsky school of maneuver warfare called Deep Operation which is similar to Blitzkrieg (a term not used by the wehrmacht) but much expanded in depth of action. Because of this a number of things occurred in the RKKA aka the Red Army:
Incompetent Stalin cronies from the civil war days were given high ranking positions
Officers were commanding units far above their rank and experience
Officers of all ranks were afraid to take initiative on pain of arrest or death (Gen (Pavlov 1941)

Kalishnikov was not in the Red Army in 1936. He was drafted in 1938 and made a tank mechanic.

I think “chummy” is probably the wrong term to use. From what I have read, both men despised each other. However, both were willing to making deals with the devil to achieve their political aims.

The reason Stalin made the deal with Hitler, was because Hitler let him have half of Poland.

The Brits and French, mainly due to Polish opposition, would not let Stalin into Poland, and therefore the negotiations broke down.

In the US, the anti-American global socialist left necessarily had to be a bit more subtle in turning the once predominantly patriotic DoD into a left wing globalist weapon.

A thorough purge was, and is necessary to eliminate conservative principled American patriots.

In fact, these would need to be rebranded as the enemy.

The subtle strategy utilized the lefts long term pet “civil rights” architecture, to forceably infill both officer and enlisted ranks with social marxists, and really a significant percentage of pro homosexual officers.

A “Pink Swastika” type (or modern LGBTQ) filter has been used to strongly discourage conservative servicemembers from staying in, or re-enlistment, (including staff level officers), and from even joining in the first place.

Now, more than 25 years since our leftist president Clinton formally began this effort, there are few true conservatives able to survive within any federal IC agency, the DoD, or the DOJ.

The longer the filter has been applied, the stronger and more demanding the “homo” filter is accepted and utilized.

Simultaneously, or parallel, the stronger the sample size of permissiveness of sexual perversion, the stronger the personnel sample size of those who have almost no moral boundaries, and of those who hate Christianity and the traditional family.

Today, the lefts grip has tightened to the point, commands are literally proactively ferreting out conservatives and those sympathetic to patriotism, liberty, and really the Constitution itself.

Our IC, DoD, and DOJ-FBI purge very craftily relied upon pro-homosexual filters.

From this recent history, our hard left dominated DOJ police state trajectory, and left wing IC and DoD, are following similar paths to both pre Bolshevic Russia, and pre NAZI Germany.

The pathology is striking.

Both historically had many economic and societal challenges, but both began with mass educational indoctrination into evolutionary humanism, then experienced terminal waves of broken families, followed by radical and even violent feminist tsunami’s, then hard core socialist totalotarian type governance.

Left wing wolves knew how this had to work in America.

<>This is a part of Russian history the Russians don't really like . . .<>

In his book, The Mortal Danger, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn slammed westerners like you for equating "Russian" with "Soviet." The Communists were occupiers, oppressors of the Russian people and not to be confused with one another.

Imagine how you would recoil if foreigners associated you with the democrat party.

Stalin was a Russian Nationalist, despite being Georgian, who simply continued the Foreign Policy goals of the Tsars.

Most modern Russians, who do admire Stalin, don’t think of him as a Communist.

The Communists weren’t something that fell out of the clouds into Russia one day. They were Russians. Solzhenitsyn is over rated.
