Life was returning to a new normal in Kabul as cautious residents ventured out of their homes to see what life would be like under the Taliban following their astonishing return to power at the weekend.
For some, it's as if the last 20 years never happened.
Already there are signs that people are changing the way they live to accommodate the return of the new hardline Islamist regime -- if not by direct order, then at least for self-preservation.
During their first stint in power -- from 1996 until 2001 when they were ousted by the US-led invasion in the wake of the September 11 attacks -- the Taliban ruled with a strict interpretation of the Koran and sharia law.
A swift whipping across the back of the legs by cadres from the Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice was common for those tardying at prayer times.
Public floggings, amputations of limbs for thieves and even executions were scheduled for Fridays -- sometimes held at the national stadium.

Don’t for a second think this wasn’t the Democrats plan all along. They are even working overtime to blame Afghanistan on Trump but it isn’t going to work. I watched a video of LiberalHivemind on Biden going down as the worst president in modern history, and you can check it out in crawler link top of page at Whatfinger News. Joe’s been in office 7 months, so this is all on him. They’ve even had us wearing mini burqas for over a year now here, in preparation for the next logical step.
I didn’t realize they only had 5 years of hell. I thought the taliban ruled much longer. I sorta felt sorry for them but 5 years isn’t too bad. Heck we had 8 years of Obama and because we didn’t learn 4 of Biden.
They will rule much longer THIS time. There is nobody willing to stand up to them now that Trump and other populists had elections stolen from them by Western communists.

“New normal” is used when discussing the Taliban.
Disgusting.
Nothing is normal about Afghanistan. Apparently the male population is incapable of any kind of self-discipline or orderly social contact.
And those remaining are faced with a huge pack of feral cats.
The various tribes of Afghani women should take their cues from the Kurdish women of Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran.

When it comes to the concept of what the Taliban government actually is being ruled by Islam. There is a profound refusal in too many circles including not only our media and but even my church’s leadership to accept that it is a theocratic form known as a theocracy .
Their discipline is derived from a brutal religion. Their violence ,according to them, blessed by the Koran. Good luck to these poor MFers left there. These fools who think you can have peaceful coexistence with a group that rules by bloodshed and extortion,all dictated by a holy book are simply ignorant dreamers.
It just seemed like forever because it was so barbaric even for Muslims.
