New Evidence That High Schools Treat Conservative Students Poorly
National Review ^ | 16 Aug 2021 | SAMUEL J. ABRAMS

They face a hostile environment much more often than their liberal peers do.

With schools reopening for in-person instruction in a few weeks, many people are understandably fixated on the dangers COVID-19 poses to students’ safety and well-being. While the pandemic remains a real concern, another very worrisome issue will face our nation’s high-school students when they return to the classroom: whether conservative students will be treated fairly if their views and ideas do not comport with the overall zeitgeist of particular schools....

...In the case of religious beliefs, barely 4 percent of respondents in the sample reported seeing uncivil treatment based on religion often, and 30 percent report seeing such treatment sometimes. The overwhelming majority of students (66 percent) report seeing inappropriate treatment on the basis of faith either rarely or never.

With political ideology, however, the picture looks different. When asked about students who hold strong liberal viewpoints, 10 percent of survey respondents said they often see such students subjected to discrimination or uncivil behavior because of these views, and 25 percent said they see it sometimes. But almost two thirds — 65 percent — said they rarely or never saw students having to deal with such problems based on their liberal ideology.

By contrast, 21 percent of students say conservative students face uncivil treatment often, and another 40 percent say....

Treat conservative students poorly? Nothing new. It was that way back in the 70’s when I was in high school.

Mine sure did, and that was seventeen years ago. When I was going into kidney failure and missing classes due to hospitalizations, the deans wanted not to suspend me, but EXPEL me. I was a half credit short thanks to their refusal to help me find a tutor to complete classwork and tests, and was not even allowed to watch my friends and boyfriend (for all four years of HS, then three and a half more after) walk across the stage. I have no graduation pictures, and am not in any of my friends’ pictures. I had to watch it on local TV.

Nice, huh? And I live in a county that was pretty conservative at the time.

I should note that my liberal peers didn’t face such issues, as they tended to kiss admin ass.

Ditto, '68 to '72, but only from a few teachers, one "history" teacher in particular.

Thankfully, all but 1 (my English teacher) of my HS teachers were Conservatives.

Why does National Review care? They treat conservatives poorly, too.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

Spy cam glasses.

It should be evident by now that if your kids are in public school they are going to be subjected to the unhinged rantings of woke teachers who think it’s their job to politically brainwash them. We have all seen example after example of these nutjobs with teaching degrees going ape on a classroom full of kids who just showed up to learn some reading and writing skills. There is no shortage of these bespectacled scolds chomping at the bit to denigrate parents, disparage white people, and abuse any student who dares argue.

Alissa Piro in California is one of my favorites caught on camera daring parents to “come at” her if they don’t like the way she’s teaching distance learning. Those of us who suffered through public school “distance learning” know exactly why she was being criticized. The whole thing was a total failure, but you keep on comparing yourself to a medical doctor, Alissa.
“I know very little about anything else in the world except education,” she told her captive class. “However, if your parent wants to come talk to me about how I’m not doing a good enough job in distance learning based on what you need as an individual…I dare them to come at me. I’m so sick to my stomach of parents trying to tell educators how to do their jobs.

But now that classes are held in person, some teachers feel even more emboldened to spew their politics and general hatred unmonitored…so they think. This doozy that just happened in Utah in the first week of school that I wrote about yesterday in which (now former) teacher Leah Kinyon went on a political tirade against Trump and conservative students in her class. She no longer has a job because of it. But that justice would have never happened if someone hadn’t been filming and willing to smuggle that video out.
If your kid is going back in person to a government school, they must be armed and ready with one or more recording devices to make sure this kind of indoctrination does not happen under the cover of darkness. If it does, they can capture it. Smartphones are good but not all schools allow them in class. Some teachers make kids check them at the door. If that happens to your student, you can make sure they still have a way to capture the far-left lunacy happening inside the classroom.

Corporations are becoming as bad, Many Fortune 500 companies now have many ultra liberals in leadership roles.
Don’t send your resume to them if you are a known man’s man who doesn’t fly a rainbow flag - it will go into the circling file cabinet.
