Chuck Schumer said federal law enforcement officials need to crack down on fake COVID-19 vaccination cards, which are being sold online.
Schumer's announcement Sunday comes after AP previously reported how people are cheating the system and, worrying officials at colleges and universities across the country that are requiring proof students received the vaccine to attend in-person classes.
A user on the encrypted messaging app Telegram offered what they described as "COVID-19 Vaccine Cards Certificates," for as much as $200 each, the report said.
Schumer is demanding US Customs and Border Protection and the FBI team up with officials from the Department of Health and Human Services to launch a crackdown on the counterfeit cards and start a campaign to make clear that forging the cards could land people in federal prison.
He also wants the Justice Department to immediately prioritize cases involving fake vaccine cards and is pushing for Customs and Border Protection to work harder to find counterfeit cards being sent from overseas.
Federal agents have already seized thousands of fake vaccine cards this year. Customs and Border Protection officers working in Memphis seized another shipment earlier this week - sent from Shenzhen, China, - that contained dozens of fake cards, officials said.
Border agents knew immediately that the cards were fake, the agency said, because the cards were laden with typos, unfinished words, and incorrect or misspelled Spanish words on the backs of the cards.

The USC code is about the official seal. People wear those FIB hats all the time and no one cares I would imagine if one made a CDC hat no one would care as well. Same for coffee mugs. If you bought a blank blue passport from China and added a picture and typed in information would one think the government would not crack down on it? If people were not being coerced into unapproved experimental medical treatments they would not pay 200 bucks for a fake card.
Here's the text of the applicable statute:
"Whoever fraudulently or wrongfully affixes or impresses the seal of any department or agency of the United States, to or upon any certificate, instrument, commission, document, or paper or with knowledge of its fraudulent character, with wrongful or fraudulent intent, uses, buys, procures, sells, or transfers to another any such certificate, instrument, commission, document, or paper, to which or upon which said seal has been so fraudulently affixed or impressed, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both."
Note that it includes the word "paper." A paper would not necessarily be a legal document. It could be a letter or memo.

However, I keep hearing that the CDC is a private business—not a government entity. Thus, use of their logo could be a liability as a use without authorization.

$200 isn’t a bad price for protection of our own health.
However, I’ll be looking to roll my own should the time come that I really need one. The skills I pick up might be even more useful in the future.
The entire “new reality” thing being forced on Americans could be defeated if delivery drivers would simply refuse to take supplies like food and fuel into America’s cities. If it’s too much to ask for teachers to face unmasked children in school, and too much to ask for diners to eat unmasked, and too dangerous to exercise unmasked . . . then it’s too dangerous for drivers to travel into such perilous areas.

Too many retards can’t accept the fact that there is a CDC Foundation, a non-government charity. It might not be a good thing, but it is not at all the same as the fedgov CDC.

I’m NOT saying this is a Florida CoVID vaccination card. I am also NOT saying that it is printed on #10 card stock. I am again, NOT saying it’s possible to download this PDF, and print it out on your own.
I would NEVER tell someone what to do, I am just providing some (possibly useful) information.
I don't think I said or implied that. If it's a parody, that would be obvious and there wouldn't be any expectation that it's an official document of that agency. The purpose of the statute, in my view, is to prevent people from passing on documents as official documents of the agency when they are not.
