Corrector.co works fine w/ Brave.

Slightly OT, does anyone know of a good, free spell checker for Word Pad?

I have a better one. I learned to spell and do grammar in school back when those things used to be taught. I do my own proofreading. It is easy to tell in a news article when the writer has relied on machine proofing. I prefer any errors or oversights to be my own, usually due to haste, than to be a result of accepting a robot’s often faulty judgment.

https://windowsloop.com/enable-wordpad-spell-check/ .... A word pad spell check. I will try it out. I like and use word pad. It is advanced these days and as good as Word was 15 years ago. I also use notepad a lot.

I'm gonna guess you were taught civics, penmanship and "base times rate equals percentage" math as well.

The better the spell check and grammar check that it used, the more creepy the AI that is infesting the program.

Just a thought.

Even better than that. I went to grammar school in Istanbul at a private Calvert System school established for the progeny of American diplomats and businessmen. When my family returned stateside I was so far ahead of the then far-better-than-now public schools that I got lazy and forgot how to study. It almost ruined me for 12th grade. History teaching never did catch up to what I got by 6th grade, even in Jr. College. A big spur to learning all they gvae us was an hour for lunch/recess. There was no kitchen so we all brought our own and ate it quickly on the playground so we could run and play some pretty active games and such.

Does it know the difference in their, there, and they're?

Does it know that "a" is a word, and that "lot" is also a word, but "alot" is not a word?

:)

“I refuse to use Chrome.”

Chrome is a Chromium based browser. So don’t use it, no big deal..I Don’t blame you, Even Microsoft finally went Chromium based with their new Edge browser. Try Komodo Dragon browser. Supposedly very secure. Chromium based too. I want to see if it blocks Gmail from sending my info to Google

Don't know about Windows but for Linux/Ubuntu, it's the operating system that has the spell checker and all applications use it. I'm pretty good at spelling though. It's the keyboard that gets me sometimes. I used the same keyboard layout for over a decade but that layout changed on newer Thinkpad laptops and I had to make the switch a couple of years ago and still haven't gotten used to it. I'm constantly hitting the Caps Lock button when I go for the A key.

I did have to spend a little time teaching spellcheck the American spellings of word like colour color, labour labor etc. Just right click the American spelling and click "Add to Dictionary".

I will try that.

I use Brave currently, and have been pretty satisfied with it.
