The Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine has issued guidelines that suggest employing such terms as “chestfeeding,” “human milk feeding,” and “parent’s milk” to promote what it calls “gender-inclusive language.”
The ABM position statement on “infant feeding and lactation-related language and gender,” co-authored by eight doctors and the academy, said that “the use of de-sexed or gender-inclusive language is appropriate in many settings.”
“ABM recognizes that not all people who give birth and lactate identify as female, and that some of these individuals identify as neither female nor male,” said the four-page document posted July 29.

The very definition of mammal includes that the female gives birth and lactates to nourish her young.
Any human who can concieve, give birth and lactate is a female by definition. It is scientific fact and not open for debate.

Just do not use their terminology. Do not let them set the terms of discussion. Do not let them set the terms and conditions of a debate.
Any time you use their language, you have already conceded to them.
Reframe the terms and conditions, always.
For example, the word mother always has been inclusive. Tell them that.
Continue to use mother.
Write it on forms.
As need be, cross out options such as Parent 1 and Parent 2, and write in the words mother and father.
If they do not give you such a choice on the form, if they have an Additional Comments box, write in mother or father there.
If they find your use of mother or father “offensive,” then that’s too bad. Go on offense. Don’t back down. Don’t be defensive.
If they are still “offended,” tell them to leave. Tell them to go away. Tell them to get lost.
The time to fight back is not tomorrow or next week or next year. It is now.
