COVID-19 immunizations are the foundation of stopping the spread of the virus, keeping us safe and getting back to normal, but even as vaccines roll out and cases plummet across the province, research into treatment options remains a crucial element in the global fight against COVID-19.
Povidone iodine, known by the brand name Betadine, is a topical antiseptic – a substance that kills and prevents the growth of microorganisms. It is commonly used to help heal wounds and disinfect skin before and after surgery. It has also been used with success at the St. Paul’s Sinus Centre as a nasal rinse to treat chronic inflammation diseases of the nasal cavity.
The purpose of this new study is to determine if povidone-iodine used in a sinus rinse and throat gargles or gel nasal spray are effective treatments for patients diagnosed with COVID-19.
Stopping the disease early
“We believe that this treatment will be a game-changer for COVID-19,” says Dr. Amin. “While most groups are working on developing a vaccine or treatments for hospitalized and severe patients, we are working on stopping the disease in an early stage, when the symptoms are mild and we can delay the spread of the virus to the lungs.”
The study is currently recruiting patients diagnosed with COVID-19 who are isolating at home. Participants will be sent a kit containing saliva sample collection cups, treatment, and questionnaires. The treatment will be randomly assigned (either povidone iodine rinses and gargles, placebo rinses and gargles, or povidone iodine gel forming nasal spray). Participant are asked to perform the treatment twice a day for 14 days. At the end of the study, the research team will determine if povidone iodine reduces the concentration of the virus in saliva samples compared to a placebo.

This stings like all get out.
And you won’t be able to open your eyes for about 30 sec.
I put rubbing alc on a paper towel and rub my eyes with it.
Good for when your eyes feel like they are itchy possibly infected.
Instantly clears it up.
I somehow missed the iodine snorting.
Salt water snorting growing up
She’s hasn’t been around, lately.
The same one who mentioned and was ridiculed for it— a patented Narrow Band ultraviolet light emitting intubation insertion medical device which can be (and has been trialed for many types of infections, viral included) inserted in the same manner as a breathing bag (EMS) or endo-tracheal tube into the trachea and further down into brachiae of the lungs.
Story:https://www.worldtribune.com/firm-was-already-testing-uv-light-inside-body-before-trump-mentioned/
It kills viral infections, bacterial etc. by the UV light wave form.
One trial in 5 patients to be ventilated: https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04572399
The device, Aytu Healight, is here, trial first:

Have these treatments been peer-reviewed?
Might add— HOW would Trump know about the clinical extension research being done with this UV light? Well... under many if not most Health Departments in municipalities and country’s regulations, UV light is required around food preparation, and serving (buffets or serving stations)... AND The TRUMP Organization has purchased and has in service hundreds of these in their resort/hotel/and restaurant properties.
State of the Art and State of the Health Regulations knowledge of a world businessman. But the MORONS who want to rip off the country and the world with their “vaccines” have to ridicule FACTS to sell and make money from their agenda.
The demonRAT machine— financed with OUR money.
Does everyone remember how Trump was ridiculed for asking if we could do something like this to kill the virus inside the body? Who’s the stupid idiot now.
Wait! Are they suggesting that a disinfectant might be used to fight covid.
What a unique idea ... seems like I heard that someone got beat up in the media for talking about that once before.
Bkmk
This is a study recently started up based on prior evidence pointing to a potentially useful outcome.
With the item being available OTC, it shouldn’t be a concern if it’s peer reviewed or not, as the most anyone could have go wrong is that it does effectively nothing.
“Folks allergic to iodine left out In The cold”
There are other common disinfectants for cleaning wounds, that would probably also work, like dilute hydrogen peroxide, or Daikin’s solution (very dilute bleach - a teaspoon in a cup of water).
The Israelis have approved the sale of a Nitric Oxide Nasal Spray (Sanotize is the company, Enovid is their product), that is reportedly very effective, convenient and safe. It is touted to be like hand sanitizer for the nasal passages.

Bit wary of iodine, but husband gargles with original Listerine every single day and has for years — never has had even regular flu.
I have had the beginning of a sore throat three times this year. Each time I gargled white apple vinegar twice a day for two days. The sore throat always went away.
there was a product that the FDA immediately took off the market ‘to study’ when covid first broke out-
I beleive it was this one
There was also this one
SaNOtize Nitric Oxide Nasal Spray
There’s been an number of sprays touted to stop infection- as well as mouth washes that have ingredients that prevent infection for around an hour or so- There’s probably no reason why folks who are worried about coronavirus couldn’t use these and get back to their lives- but they are so freaked out by the virus they don’t dare move- course as soon as the CDC were to announce a spray- shelves would be emptied- as the left would hoard it no doubt- -
Some, having tested positive, are using hydrogen peroxide with pink Himalayan salt in a vaporizer; inhaling it. With success.
Even when Trump.is “wrong” he is right...
I read this last week. It’s hard to find. They will probably take it off the shelves like they do with everything else that helps.
Hydrogen peroxide as a nasal rinse burns like H.
Even diluting to a 1% solution.
I’ve been using betodine now for years on recommendation of my ENT. Complicated instructions but it nails sinus infections.
I’m presuming you meant betadine.
