This is my personal opinion therefore it's worth nothing at all, BUT am I the only person who sees Afghani's storming the US Embassy compound in Kabul wanting to flee with the last of the US military personnel in a few weeks or months?
Seriously though, just like in Vietnam, we poured billions into the Afghan military and they are collapsing. It's only a matter of time before the taliban over run the entire country. We should be running NEO operations right now but for some reason we're not.
This is not rocket science but the current US regime is ignoring all the signs. We need to destroy everything, in place, and get the hell out. The leaving part is now, inevitable. Lets just do it now so we can retain even a little bit of dignity and not repeat scenes of helicopters evacuating the last Marines while the taliban scale the compound walls.
Oh please get a freakin grip and get out of that hellhole already.
There’s no reason to be there anymore.
Insurgency, not a professional army invasion.
It will be a repeat of Iraq without the withdrawal beforehand. Think Iraq 2014 - 2015.
The only dignity to be had belongs to the soldiers who fought the Taliban and whipped their ass. Again, scum politicians and their perfumes prince generals lose another American war.
The US should have never gone in there.
We should have paid the Russian Army to go in there and clean up. Free hand with no media.
Let the chicoms get mired down there.
The real question is will the Taliban stage the takeover of Kabul for the 20th anniversary of 9/11. My bet is yes so I think we will be evacuated by then leaving behind billions worth of military equipment. The Obama/Biden admin “war of necessity” comes to a close. That sandbox was never the key to anything but old Joe couldn’t get a status of forces agreemebt out of an Iraqi government that represented nobody and could have been disposed of in two minutes.
US middle east policy has been a complete disaster from the get go. Never has so much military force been applied to so little effect. The problem is not the army but the politicians and diplomats.
Think Jimmy Carter, Tehran, hostages, 1979. Same scenario here if the embassy isn’t immediately airlifted out.
Undoubtedly there will be some young idealistic humanitarian aid workers who just can’t believe the taliban are THAT bad. These will be executed on live TV.
The US is now the most unreliable ally in the history of unreliable allies.
I said the exact thing yesterday on a FR post “mark my words, Kabul will fall on 9/11/21”
I’m not so sure now… sounds like it could fall much faster and I think the Taliban is smart enough to not wait….. considering all that could go on while waiting. Not unlike the moron football players who celebrate on the way to end zone on an easy touchdown but fumble before they cross the goal line.
Nobody anywhere trust the Federal gov of the USA….. most of all at least 70 million of its own citizens.
Hey, I don’t trust us. And I’m a U.S. citizen
Apples to oranges. The South Vietnamese fought on for almost two years after the US military left. It was only after the Dem Congress cut off all military aid that Saigon fell.
The Afghan forces won’t even last weeks after the US military leaves.
Afghanistan may look like the “Last Days of Sa5i Go5n” to some but the Taliban will not develop the way the Communists developed in Việt Nam. the Vietnamese are practical people, Moslems are, by and large, not. Once the old revolutionaries in VN died off the younger men looked and saw that collectivization was not working. They also knew that Việt Nam had to get rich to avoid becoming a province of China. They dumped the collectivization and turned famine into massive rice exports in two years. Over the past twenty years Việt Nam has become ever more prosperous as these people who are born doing business were allowed to do business. Việt Nam is now an ally to America in SEA. Taliban Afghanistan will never be an ally of a non Sunni nation. America did not have the desire to conquer and own Afghanistan but China does.
That’s a repeat of history I could live without.
“Never forget” is the new American oxymoron. What a complete disgrace. I wish I could shove dog sh*t into the faces of every American politician and general. The typical voter is just as asinine. I have no idea what the identity of this country is anymore.
The chicoms, should they determine to colonize Afghanistan will do what it takes to accomplish that, if it means killing three quarters of the population.
Just tell the Chicom PLA they can have all the women or brides they want, just kill all the brothers, fathers, uncles or husbands of the Afghan women, put those women in brothels, and take some of the more comely or compliant home as war brides.
Horny young soldiers are governed by a greater force than ideology or even money.
A little historical perspective would have helped here. No one has been able to take over Afghanistan going all the way back to Alexander the Great in 300 BC. Arrogant politicians in the US thought they could create another democracy there. Soon we will see the results of $88 Billion spent on the Afghan military and how many US lives.
“Apples to oranges. The South Vietnamese fought on for almost two years after the US military left. It was only after the Dem Congress cut off all military aid that Saigon fell.

***********************************************
Absolutely! The DemocRATS in Congress starved the South Vietnamese of resources leaving them substantially depleted of ammunition, fuel, replacement parts (anyone in the military will tell you of their importance).
The Afghans were left with plenty of resources both civilian and military and a steady flow of finances. The Afghans are largely simply refusing to fight. WE SHOULD NOT ALLOW A SINGLE AFGHAN (other than the interpreters who fought with us) “refugee” in. They will merely merge with the Muslim fifth columnists already in our midst.
Afghanistan was a waste of lives just like Nam was. We went. We fought. We died. We left. We accomplished mostly nothing.
