We were once proud, independent and strong.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgIASPOlEaQ

Think about this for a second. If you said those very words today, you would piss off how many groups and you would get labelled as a racist, xenophobe, exclusive, bigot? You might be censored. You could lose your job in many circles.

Today we are weak. We do not have the stomach, persistence, nor unity to be the once powerful nation we were.

We are merely riding on the inertia of our past, protected by two vast oceans, and with our vast size in population, land and natural resources keeping us in a leading position for the time being.

We are no longer the meat eaters we once were and like the Euro’s are just waiting for someone hungry and wanting to be king of the mountain/hill to knock us off the top.

Just stop! 20 years is enough. Let the afghans either fight or live under the talaban. Their choice. We’ve spent enough money in that trash of a country.

All true, once again.

No wisecracks this time. But I am staring at the floor blankly. So there’s that.

America went to shit in the 60 - 70s.

That was the beginning of the end.

Ideas/philosophies crept in that are destructive: humanism, socialism, feminism, environmentalism (modern version), racial egalitarianism, secularism, moral relativism, the homo agenda...

All of them are the same/connected in reality: Godless leftist ideas, egalitarian BS.

People that are failures in life of course want the riches of those that are successful. But few are willing to change their lives and make different choices either as an individual or how they see the world collectively. The culture that made America powerful and economically successful is gone and dead: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=norman+rockwell+paintings&t=lm&iar=images&iax=images&ia=images

It is culture that makes wealth.

Not wealth that makes culture.

The low lives living in their second generation in government paid for public housing, off government food, government paid mass transit, cell phones, health care... Today, they are the same losers they were 5, 10, or 20 years ago, and instead of penalizing/discouraging failure and rewarding success, we have created a society that rewards failure and penalizes success. We have created ever more programs to help those in need, that had an injustice done to them 140 years ago, who by their own choices even in a booming economy can’t seem to climb out of section 8 housing and afford to pay for their own food even as “hiring” signs are posted in every strip mall. America not only pays for the poor in every city (it’s predominantly an urban issue), but even internationally, and no cost is too much to achieve equality between the races or sexes... You know what is missing from every one of these happy equality stories? How much will it cost (for 80 women to feel good about themselves, the tax payer will pay “billions”)? It would have been cheaper had the USN given each of them $1,000,000 and said to just go away, thank you.

https://www.navytimes.com/news/your-navy/2017/04/19/women-in-the-military-us-navy-redesigning-its-submarines/

What is the obvious outcome when a society becomes stupid like that?

“Afghanistan has been a s**t show from day one. Nothing has changed”

Yup. Stupid to go in, insane to stay. Criminal to stay 20 friken YEARS!!!

Some things are a write off in life. Afghanistan is, and always was. We are not “Team America, World Police!”

I recently worked for two retired 4 star generals, one Air Force and the other Army. One was the head of Global Strike Command and the other Commander of the US Army Pacific and 3rd Army. Both very woke and consequently feckless and PC. Neither fit to sit at the same table as Patton.

You can not conquer Afghanistan unless you are willing to be brutal enough to kill all opposition.

Kind of like Saddam Hussein, or Qaddafi.

Seems to be the only strategy that works, unfortunately.

The cultures over there just fight with each other until a "strong horse" shows up and murders anyone who shows the least resistance. If I remember correctly, Saddam actually said words to that effect to some of the young Americans who were guarding him. He actually seemed to be somewhat fond of them, or at least some of them.

Osama said the same thing. It’s in the Arab\Islamic culture.
Hispanics have a similar defer to the Caudillo\”Strong\Big Man” culture but nothing to the extent the Arab\Islamic world does.

Just like Obama’s withdrawal from Iraq led to the birth of ISIS.
Once the Taliban regain full control expect ISIS like brutality to follow.

... Taliban...
...advancing...as the US withdraws
...

'Parting is such sweet sorrow' There's no way to do it gracefully

Imagine how the subsistence-level chieftain must have perceived the officers emerging from the helicopters and trucks bristling with guns, tailed by an armed retinue of subordinates, as they strode up, all smiles and announced "We're from the government of the USA and we're here to give you water, electricity, and all kinds of stuff and help you create a peaceful democratic society and ensure that all men and women are equal!"

We did win: Osama and his people are dead. They'll never again do what they did to us. That's why we went there.
We just lied about it, mostly to ourselves.

A B-52 raid with 3 bombers in that cell can cover 1-1/2-2 miles by 1 mile wide (VN stats and I’ve seen aerial photos of them).

A Spectre (the advanced Spookie C47 gunships) are C130s which carry enough firepower to wipe out an enemy column in a few minutes. The are “The Big Hurt” of the air and more accurate than B52 raids unless guided onto a target by laser sighting.

Been inside a Spooky and saw one in action at night east of Saigon (Rung Sat mangrove swamps area).

Since the Taliban is now operating in large convoys, they are the perfect targets of these two weapons systems, but it has got to be a relentless bombing campaign, not a single mission day-tripper.

To be truthful, the loss was going to be on anyone who withdrew from Afghanistan because without the US troops, the Afghan Army has no backbone.
