Officials put the wrong man in a mental facility for 2 years. When he objected, they called him ‘delusional.’

He woke up to a police officer arresting him for violating the city’s ban on lying down in public places.

At least that’s what Spriestersbach thought.

The officer actually arrested him because he believed Spriestersbach was a man named Thomas Castleberry,

It was the first mistake of many that led to Spriestersbach spending two years and eight months in jail and a mental institution for crimes he didn’t commit,

For speaking out, Spriestersbach was deemed “problematic” and given antipsychotic medications, including Haldol, which made him despondent and catatonic.

“The more Mr. Spriestersbach vocalized his innocence by asserting that he is not Mr. Castleberry, the more he was declared delusional and psychotic by the [hospital] staff and doctors and heavily medicated,” Around that time, the state attorney general notified a judge and the public defender’s office of the situation, and a “secret meeting” followed. There is no court record of that meeting, which Brown said may have been because officials wanted to avoid public embarrassment.

Sounds like Trump voter re-education camps.

I hope the guy settles for North side of ten million. Then I hope he spends five of that to go low. We don't need government servants like those running loose and putting us all at risk.

According to the petition, a public defender named William Bento told them he had consulted with the state Department of the Attorney General. Bento, who did not respond to a request for comment, said officials in that office had instructed him not to hand over any documents related to Castleberry’s 2006 drug case, including all records filed after May 2017 that actually pertained to Spriestersbach.

Spriestersbach was not entitled to the documents, officials said.

The reason: He was not the defendant in that case. He was not Thomas Castleberry

There is NO Punishment to Great for everyone involved, as for me, I would have the Public Defender, DA, Head Doctor and Judge EXECUTED for this and the rest go to PRISON FOR LIFE!

this happened in Hawaii and the person he was mistaken for was being held in Alaska by the prison system at the time of the arrest. fingerprints were taken and not processed by the arresting officer. to hide the mistake he was sent to a psychiatric hospital.

the state attorney general notified a judge and the public defender’s office of the situation, and a “secret meeting” followed.

Every person involved should heve been Arrested and Charged with:

False Imprisonment
Kidnapping
Torture
Illegal Distribution of Narcotics (enough to qualify for KingPin Status and the DEATH PENALTY is Attached.

Everyone of them should be Given the RIGHT to make thier Case to a Jury while on Trial for thier very lives!

"Officials put the wrong man in a mental facility for 2 years. When he objected, they called him ‘delusional.’"

So what? Officials put the wrong man in the White House. When the American People objected, they called them much worse than merely ‘delusional’!

That's an invalid End Sarcasm tag.

While most languages recognize <"/Sarc>" its best to go whole hog with the correct "</Sarcasm>".

You can do that magic with ampersand (&), hash tag (#) and 60 for a right angle bracket.
