After decades in woods, New Hampshire man forced from cabin

or almost three decades, 81-year-old David Lidstone has lived in the woods of New Hampshire along the Merrimack River in a small cabin adorned with solar panels. He has grown his own food, cut his own firewood, and tended to his cat and chickens.

But his off-the-grid existence appears to be at risk.

...“You came with your guns, you arrested me, brought me in here, you’ve got all my possessions. You keep ’em,” he told a judge at a hearing Wednesday. “I’ll sit here with your uniform on until I rot, sir.” “It’s lying, cheating corrupt judges like you that are stepping on little people like me. But I’m telling you, sir, you step on me, I’m going to bite your ankle.”

NH is similar to Vermont; a State that supports Bernie, a porn author and vowed Socialist.

That is just his word against???????? We have no idea. Just because he said he had permission does not mean he had it.

You never heard of the KELO vs. City of New London decision by the Supreme Court allowing eminent domain for private redevelopment?

There is plenty of bullying that goes on, thought sometimes property owners that fight back. Remember the real estate developer who got Atlantic City to try to take a little old lady's house away from her to build a parking lot? That was extreme bullying.

In San Jose, they bullied the owner of the Tropicana. I'm not sure if they ultimately succeeded. But they told him they were taking his property because he had the wrong kind of crepe myrtle or something. It cost him a lot of money.

Take a look at this:
Eminent domain ruling chills property owners / Fear of land grabs unites odd coalition

Eminent Domain is a blight on the nation, and most places aren't as benevolent as where you live.

Heck. You’d think with how much the liberals defend tent cities on private and public property they would be all in for this guy.

Adverse possession laws vary by state. In Michigan the homeowner has to prove that he gave permission, unless the possessor acknowledges that he did. A dated statement signed by the possessor is best. Proof of delivery of a registered letter sometimes works. The time of possession must be at least 15 years, so the permission has to be renewed within that time, and the clock would start over.

“ey say he cant stay there because the place is ‘illegal’ ie doesn’t have septic, or other things- said he doesn’t have an ‘access road’ “

~~~
That’s all code for “pay us”
“pay us” mostly means the the government, which means EVERYONE (even renters) need to be on the grid. But it also means everyone pays the public utilities. If you’re not on water and sewer, you need to pay anyway. Everyone, and that means absolutely everyone, needs to be paying. Road access? What does that even mean? If someone never has to leave, and no one ever needs to enter, then why should anyone bother with a road? The answer is the same as taxes and public utilities. We all have to do our part to support the grid, and the grid isn’t just pipes and wires, it’s also roads. The point of the grid isn’t that it’s maintained. Yes it has to be maintained. But the point is that everyone is made to contribute. Someday you will pay to breathe too. That’s why you’re not allowed to collect rain water on your own property. The point is to make everyone a minion of the collective.
***Do you have a reference? I live in San Jose and I was looking for it based on what you posted. No luck so far.
He was there for over 20 years. Of course he had permission. Why would anyone ever think otherwise.
It’s not his property and he’s had near three decades to resolve that issue. I wish him well at his new address but he still needs to leave.
>> So much for “Live Free or Die”. <<
In most of the world if you try to live free on someone else’s land you’ll die.
I still hate eminent domain but I go much further.
I want a return to fee title with a complete prohibition on all property taxes. Property taxes in the UK are correctly called rent and the fact of property tax in the USA is that it is also rent. If you don’t pay your rent to the government they kick you out of your property.
Government can and will find another way to fund itself. Property taxes are an insult to the right to own property because no matter what you do your property will forever be owned by government.
Exactly! Another looney left pretzel logic
Send them to any downtown underpass, or street in LA....and, let them inspect those facilities, road access, taxable items, etc.
