The species goes extinct if all emperor penguins die. If some remain the species is not extinct. Individual penguins can die, and lots of individual penguins might die, but individuals and groups of penguins can’t go extinct.
They - enough of them - will adapt.
The genetic ability to adapt (built into LIFE) and the LIFE urge to survive is the rock bed of evolution. Evolution minus a changing world is a non sequitur.
What studies like this really demonstrate is that charlatans can be paid to play scientist if they advance a political agenda with propaganda.
