Covid is not kind.
Due to underlying health issues I, Kalam, finished my vaccinations in March. My nurse wife, who works in a nursing home had hers done in January. Things were going smoothly until almost mid July. First my wife contracted Covid and then she passed it on to me 5 days later.
Not good. My better half wasn't getting really ill so she originally passed on getting the latest remedy. I tested positive and was immediately given an opportunity to get an infusion of Mono Clonal antibodies. My pulminologist was insistant, because of my interstitial lung disease, so the very next day I was getting the real deal antibodies. They also told my wife to get the infusion, there is plenty and they are always making more now.
It is supposed to start working in 24 to 48 hours. Well about hour 42 hours later the wife said she had begun to feel better. Hours 48 through 53 came and went without any changes for yours truly, and I was getting worse and worse. At that time, 10:30 pm, I could tell that my breathing was starting to get easier so I could go to bed and actually got to sleep.
Breathing is GOOD. The next morning I awoke and asked my wife how she was doing. She said she still had a stuffy nose. Through the night I passed her improvement and I woke up symptom free. Most of us know someone who was not so fortunate.
The infusion I was given was fantastic. I still had to endure being quarantined. My total time was 16 days, when you include beginning when the wife had to. I have also been taking doxycycline and the terrible, terrible steroid called Prednisone. I was on Prednisone for a long time when I was trying to get stabilized for the lung/heart issues. It was like I had never quit taking it after I started it the first time. But I was prescribed it because it was an anti-inflamirtory for my already weak lungs, which basically registers like having one lung total now.
I know I'm not going to change peoples opinions and won't try to, but I want you all to know that if you get Covid and have underlying health conditions please consider taking the Mono Clonal Antibodies Infusion if it is offered to you. It really kicks covid's butt.
Before I close I want to thank my God for a little more time down here to enjoy my family and watch the grandkids grow. This rock isn't all that it's cracked up to be, but life is good, especially knowing that there is a better one waiting.
Oh, and ThankQ for the new thread Ransomnote.
Please join in.
Wow!! That’s quite an ordeal. I’m so sorry you had to go through it, but am really glad you have recovered so well.
Good to know about the Mono Clonal antibodies.
My sister, also finished her shots in March and got sick a few weeks ago. But she kept testing neg for Wuhan. She did end up in ER, but it was a “you’re fine, go home.” And she was.. “I can’t breathe.”
Sorry about the pred, nasty drug.
