My grandson recently stationed to Ft. Bragg needs a daily driver and had some difficulty in locating a 8-12K vehicle to meet his needs. Told him to check CU and base car sales but no luck so far. Anyone living in the area have a good smaller PU, SUV or car for sale or can make a recommendation of a fair used dealer? Thanks in advance for any helpful feedback.

Lieth Cars. They have numerous agencies dealing in most all Marques. We deal with the Lieth Dodge in Pinehurst.
Not the cheapest, but straight shooters and competent.

Buy a new Hyundai. Great factory warranty and many models offer 0.00% or very low interest rates. I bought a new Hyundai Santa Fe 2 years ago and love it.

Used car prices are double what they should be at this time due to low inventory. Best option is to either wait or pick up a beater for a couple k to hold him over for the next 6-12 months.

The used car market is very tight right now, and for some makes the new car supply isn’t any better. Around here, Kia and Ford look to be in short supply, but the Lexus new car lot looked packed (of course, it’s just 3 miles down the road from the Toyota North American headquarters, so you might not be able to draw universal conclusions from the local supply).

Always had good luck buying from a private individual, preferably from the older generation.

My not very helpful advice is — it’s a tough buyers market out there now. It might be “a bridge too far” but if he could hold off for a while he might end up being better off.

Get on youtube and watch some of Scotty Kilmer’s recommendtions, hes a good mechanic. No one pays him, he shoots straight and has a lot of personal experience with all brands.

I’m sorry. If he’s in the 82nd most likely he will buy a new Mustang at 35% interest and marry the first stripper he meets. That’s just how it goes.
Unless, of course, someone can slap some sense into him.
Good luck.

I’m a Ford guy and there a bunch of Fords in the area in your grandson’s price range .
Good luck.

Good luck. Used cars are selling at a premium. An 8-12k car is going to be a junker.

Go to the fort bragg. credit union and ask for the list of
repossessed cars .
Many service folk stop car payments once they are sent overseas .
the credit union gets them back .
