The International Olympic Committee (IOC) reaffirmed its full support of transgender athletes Friday when medical director Richard Budgett declared “transwomen are women” and should be included in women’s sport “when we possibly can.”
“After 100 years of promoting women’s sport, it’s up to each of the international federations to ensure that they try and protect women’s sport,” he told a briefing in Tokyo. “Science will help, experience will help, and time will help.”
Budgett spoke as New Zealand weightlifter Laurel Hubbard prepared to become the first openly transgender woman at the Olympics when she competes in the +87kg category on Monday, as AFP reports.

The 43-year-old was born male and competed as a man before transitioning to female in her 30s, taking up the sport at elite level again after meeting IOC guidelines for transgender athletes and sparking a global response.
New Zealand Olympic Committee spokeswoman Ashley Abbott said Hubbard was keeping a low profile in Japan, despite the “particularly high level of interest” in her Olympic debut.
While she acknowledged Hubbard’s appearance raised complex issues, the AFP report said Abbott also pointed out: “We all need to remember that there’s a person behind all these technical questions.”

“Transwomen” are NOT women, by any measure. At best, they are neuters, regardless of any hormone treatments or body mutilations.
Merely DRESSING in female garb is not “transgender”, it is merely transvestite.
Several decades ago, the East German swim team sent in a few “ringers” posing as women for the swim competition. I believe they were disqualified for some kind of “performance enhancement” doping.
No amount of “woke” can change the basic biological fact that persons who have “XY” chromosomes reflected in every cell of their physical bodies, are indisputably male, and that there is no way that they may ever, EVER be converted to “XX” conformation.
And apparently, their ratings are really stinking out the joint this time.
The last REAL Olympics was the previous one, in 2016.
The wheels have come off altogether since then.
It has mutated into a freak show.
A man competing as a woman at 43 years old. If he wins, will he be the oldest ever? Supposedly the average age for Olympic weightlifting women is 25 years old. I guess all the 25 year old women should be glad he is that old, a guy competing as a woman starting in his 20s could dominate the sport for decades I guess.

Because they have spent years practicing and training to get where they are. If they walk out it will not be covered by the media. It will be like peeing in a swimming pool. It’s a warm feeling, but nobody notices. Also, they have family and friends watching them perform. Some of those have probably contributed to the contenders being there. Also, there is probably no sense of solidarity. They are isolated from each other physically and by language. So, every decision is made alone. As far as they know, it will just be them...the one and only, with no access to tell the world why. By walking out they may be termed “haters.”
I think they should walk out. But, then, it’s not me who has spent forty hours each week training so I could be there.
