In chat. Not news. In chitchat: what does this mean: those that have been vaccinated not able to donate convalescent plasma with the Red Cross.

I gave blood Tuesday. As I finished the question phase and was about to take my bag and give blood. I asked her if she would be surprised if next year a question on the screening sheet will ask if you have had Covid19 vaccine. She looked at me strangely, but not alarmed and made a comment something like; It is entirely possible. At which I agreed, and gave her a brief statement about why. I bet it is the first time that question has been asked.

Many make fun of us, but I am aware of the danger more than most.

I haven't seen any requests being made for it, nor do I see anything out on the web talking about it being used. But I found the following:

Convalescent Plasma for COVID-19 Reined In: Chuck Dinerstein, MD, MBA — February 10, 2021

Back in August, the FDA issued an Emergency Use Authorization for convalescent plasma for treating those with COVID-19. With more data in hand, the agency has now limited its use to a subset of hospitalized patients.

Look up Brett Breslow. I worked with this fine man. His wife was one of the early champions for convalescent plasma treatment.
Brett is fine and doing well!

“There is NO WAY I would take this vaccine I am 67 years old”

Bump!

I am 73, take no meds but my answer is NO WAY!

because in order to donate convalescent plasma you have to have had the disease. That’s what convalescent means. Serum if those vaccinated could be used to make immune globulin if desired. Convalescent plasma does not seem to offer much benetfit and is not widely used. monoclonal antibody therapy is much better

people who are vaccinated can and do donate blood. Just not convalescent plasma which requires you to have had the disease

They are playing the sorcerer’s apprentice. They don’t really have a clue how much of Pandora’s box they are opening.

Convalescent plasma does not seem to offer much

Pharma propaganda.

OK, I am not surprised.

This is a very bad thing that hardly anybody is questioning.

Was the question:

Have you recently taken a Covid19 vaccine?

Have you recently been vaccinated for anything?

Have you ever been vaccinated for Covid19?

my wife made a super donor donation on June 9th. She is unvaxxed and has never been infected with COVID-19. They segregated blood from vaxxed and that of recovered COVID. Her untainted blood is in high demand.

The other day a poster here insinuated (or that’s how I read it) that people may be getting different shots...it does make one wonder...I have auto immune issue...not going to risk the covid shot. I keep myself healthy in other ways, thank you.

A blood donation place encouraged people who were going to be vaccinated to donate before getting vaccinated.

“Her untainted blood is in high demand.”

Interesting...that would be my blood, too...I’ve been giving every 2-3 months for past year. Wonder if any particular “community” is buying? Hhhmmm

I’ve given blood regularly for years. They like my blood. Take no meds and have no known illnesses.

OK that is the question that I think is in order. Was not sure we were already at that point. I think it is a prudent exclusion.
