I understand that they (medical industry) must be able to see virus differences under electron microscopes, but I'm curious how it is possible to determine tens of thousands cases.
Does anyone understand the science for determining the variants of local viruses?

In an average year there are over a billion cases of the common cold in America.
Apparently there are a lot of “summer colds” going around now that we’ve ventured out of our homes and shed the masks as we congregate in closer quarters. Baseball stadiums, concert venues, etc are packed now so colds are proliferating. I hope they’re not calling these “Covid cases”, but they probably are because it fits perfectly into their political agenda.
COVID-19 is a perfect bioweapon that can be politically weaponized by the facilitators of the Great Reset. We’re in terrible danger here, and it’s not from a virus with a 99.8% survival rate. It’s from Soros and his many minions down the line to Biden and the Democrat Party.

Other questions, that I believe are worse; How do you know you need to create a new test to detect a new variant? (is every test being put through some AI imaging system to detect some ‘change’?) Once detected, how is a new test “magically” immediately available? How is this possible if COVID tests can’t differentiate between COVID and the flu? Does each sample go through the different tests?
And - how is any of this possible when the PCR tests were being amplified to the point of providing high levels of false positives?

You don't need a new test to determine it's some variant of SARS CoV-2.
Some percentage of positive samples are further genetically sequenced to monitor spread of mutations.
It's the same sequencing technology and you just compare the outputs to see where the sample virus sits in the mutation tree.
A sample is collected from a subject and it is sent in to a lab and genetically sequenced
