Having been the beneficiary of such official largess, I understand how this works. I was at work when the HR manager snuck into my cube and sat in my guest chair. He leaned forward and whispered that a black technician had “turned me in” for “politically incorrect thoughts.” Seriously. I laughed. The manager assured me that it was serious. His expression conveyed, “Hey, I can ignore one such complaint, but not two.” He said, “I recommend you never speak to him again.” (This was General Dynamics, by-the-way.)
So, if Buck had only murdered ONE guy, it would have been okay. They can ignore that. They even could have ignored a long string of dead guys. What they couldn’t ignore was that a reporter kept the story in the papers. THAT is what brought Buck before the court. Notice I didn’t say anything about “justice.” My guess is he’ll spend a few months in rehab or maybe some white collar prison where he gets to play golf every day.
My guess is the only reason the reporter was able to keep the story front and center was it was a white guy killing black men. Had it been a black political donor killing white men Buck would probably have had to hire a removal service and maybe even have his own mortuary handling the corpses.
