I believe we just got over Delta [vanity]

Last Wednesday my wife was complaining of a sore throat and headache. I'd been having trouble sleeping due to my ongoing sinus issues and hadn't really paid much attention to my own headache, but I did notice that my joints were aching, along with some other uncharacteristic pains (gonad, among them). The next day, I noticed my left tonsil (only) was sore, the opposite side of my sinus issues (not related to post nasal drip). Hearing her complaints, the sore throat/headache continued through Friday in me as well.

Saturday morning, I awoke with a partially plugged right ear after an atrocious night of major sinus issues (runny nose, which at the time I attributed to a bad reaction to lunch). My balance was off and my head felt like I was swimming in mud. Turns out that my wife felt the same.

Sunday I felt better and, since I'd committed by defrosting/brining it, set about making Cajun turkey & rice. In the process I put away the seasonings I'd purchased the day prior and mixed up my seasonings/rub for the turkey.

I discovered later - much to my wife's chagrin - that I'd put the bag of organic cayenne into the smoked paprika cannister. Turkey & rice came out GREAT, albeit too hot for my wife.

This morning I made my typical eggs & toast, topped with oak smoked fresh ground pepper. What made me think through the last week were 2 things in particular:

1. In hindsight, I hadn't really paid attention to the fact that I couldn't taste my breakfast on Saturday. 2. I mixed up the smoked paprika & cayenne primarily due to my failure to read my written tag (the colors were nearly identical), but because I couldn't smell the former.

After a flavor explosion with this morning's breakfast - in stark contrast to Saturday - I smelled the smoked paprika: There's no way I could mix them up today, as the aroma was detected IMMEDIATELY upon opening the container.

In our area, Delta mutation is quite sparse and my only exposure could have come from either the grocery store or site customers. The ONLY symptoms we detected were:

- headache - sore throat - inner ear ache (first for both of us) - plugged ear (in my case) - aching joints - testes pain

There was NO FEVER. When I suspected that we might have a cold or something on Saturday I neglected to check my temperature for allergies (my temp goes DOWN 2 degrees when I suffer allergies), but it didn't feel like allergies (other than the runny nose).

And for those who don't know, my wife & I both recovered last March from the virus (natural immunity) and are both mid-50s. There are 3 coworkers who have admitted to getting 'vaccinated' and NO ONE has complained about being ill (other than the last person to have gotten their 2nd shot the week prior).

It will be interesting to see if there's a spike in 'cases' this coming week in our area and whether anyone at work gets ill.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

About 4-5 weeks ago I had a cough appear out of nowhere that remains with me. No other symptoms and I feel great. I’m in the risk category and not been jabbed. So, who knows?

yes I have a sore throat, headaches, but only at night, no fever, and my right ear feels like it is filled with water.
I have been to the doc b/c i thought it was an ear infection, but my ears are good.
Nobody said COVID, Delta, or asked me if i had the shot.
Blech.

Back in January my GYN doctor asked me if I was planning to get the jab...He had his first and had an appointment for his 2nd...Since then no doctor has asked me if I am vaccinated or plan to...

Funny how doctors arent acting like jack booted brown shirts but Joe wants his jbbs/cohorts to act as doctors at my door...

I’ve had a little something over the last several days myself. Sinus inflammation (not congestion), vague and very slight tingling or ache in back of throat, tonsils, and even gums, and discomfort in my joints (knees and and ankles mostly) and I never have joint problems. I fell asleep Saturday afternoon and I almost NEVER nap. In fact, I hate naps. This morning I noticed my breakfast sandwich seemed uncharacteristically bland.

So what? Maybe it’s covid delta, maybe it’s something else. Everyone catches things. I am not prone to allergies either, but this is what our immune systems are here for. We don’t need pills or injections. We just need to take care of ourselves. Live life, be active, and eat something good for you when you have the chance.

Do they have a separate test for Delta? I don’t think so!

In general,l once you lose taste/flavor, it takes upwards of a month/month and a half to get it back. My lady and I both had the Rona last November/December. The worst of the symptoms for us were fatigue and loss of taste and smell.

Shouldn’t this be in News? I’d also put it on the Breaking sidebar.

Just go get tested. I don’t know why people get sick and don’t get proof.

I’d just want the test to say you have natural immunity, and can prove it.

Yeah..yeah. I know the tests aren’t 100%.

They don’t even have tests for the first covid. It’s all been lies.

You can buy a test kit at CVS pharmacy, and ( I think) Walgreens. Test at home. Don’t go to a testing site. If positive, they will use those statistics to shut us down again. Do not give them ammunition to do that.

Maybe you and your wife caught it, or maybe not.

I thought I caught covid last year, but the antibodies test was negative.

Another family member had covid symptoms twice and also tested negative for antibodies.

BOL! Covid#?? Symptoms from reading FR.

Last week, Wednesday morning, after a few days of what we thought were my summer allergy season. I was dizzy, with a rapid pulse and even Afrin couldn’t clear up my sinuses.

So my advice RN, aka wife, told me to cancel our grocery shopping plans and getting her vehicle smog tested until I felt better.

We thought that maybe I had skipped my am Atenolol after my daily/weekly pill container had turned over as I was trying to get my am pills. The Atenolol tabs are small and round.

So I took one and my PR/BP returned to normal and my dizziness went away.

Since then, I have been battling the summer allergies/or?.

Last night I woke up and unable to breath through my left nostril in spite of my CPAP machine. I used saline, more Afrin and a breathing technique taught by an allergist years ago. Then, I was able to get about 5 hours of good sleep.

I’m better this morning, and my wife is about where I was a couple of days ago.

Also, I’m now using Nasacort Spray as per my gene pool son living 45 miles away with his worse allergies in a decade. His doctor told him to start using the Nasacort until the summer allergy season was over.

Last but not least, my wife and I were exposed to the latest whatever Covid that our contractor and his 2 young daughters had a couple of weeks ago.

We are both vaccinated with the Pfizer vac. earlier this year.

".... Anyone else have a similar experience?...."

Since my wife and I took in our toddler granddaughter full time to live with us a couple of years ago, she was always getting the "crud", as I call it. She brought it home from her daycare school and gave it to me. Until she moved in, since my wife and I lived alone, I hadn't had a cold or the flu for 20 years.

But it became a regular occurrence. Mine always turned into bronchitis and I had to go urgent care to get antibiotics to kick the cough and congestion so I could sleep, while my granddaughter was over hers in a day or two without treatment at all.

It was hard to tell what normal felt like for the first year with her in the house, but now we have either gotten immunity built up or something and I haven't been sick for quit a while.

This last year, neither of us has gotten sick. I chalk it up to developing immunity and being able to fend off the bugs she brings home. We never paid much attention to the covid virus because we live on a farm, isolated in the country. No masks, no lockdowns, no social distancing.

Dealing with the covid was the least of our problems when we had more immediate issues to deal with.

Mr. mm has been complaining about similar symptoms recently.

It is allergy season, however.

My daughter recently had a similar-sounding cold/allergy/cough. She was tested for COVID and the results were negative.

It's important to remember that one can become stuffy and lose their sense of smell for many reasons. Seasonal allergies can cause inflammation of nasal sinus tissues and that can retard your sense of smell.

You know what other sense smell affects? That's right, your sense of taste.
