There’s great hiking in Chicago!
Here in Washington state Bezos recruits employees from all over the world. One of the incentives he offers is that there is access to so much hiking in Washington state. The trails have become ever more crowded with the young tech recruits using the trails.
You think there’s crowds now, wait a few years from now when illegals make up a third of the total population thanks to the Rat/RINO domestic enemy uniparty

Meanwhile, government is committed to doubling the population every 40 years. Once we become a global commons, we will no longer worry about national parks.
In 1956, at the beginning of Ike’s 2nd term, the population of the U.S. was approximately 175M. Today, it is 331M. By 2050, it is projected to be 379M. But if unfettered immigration keeps happening, it will be a lot more than that.

The phenomenon is Boomer Pollution
A similar pollution is deluging “camp” sites where there an over abundance of pickup pulled trailers.
No more can you hit the road and expect to find a place for the night. You must plan a route weeks or months in advance and make formal reservations.
Freedom is gone. There are too many people for two few sites. They have come of age believing there is freedom of the road. There isn’t
“The fact that more individuals are getting outside—including more women, people of color, and people from urban areas, according to the OIA study—may mean that those from communities historically excluded from the outdoors feel more welcome. That’s wonderful news.”

“At Ice Lake last summer, people left unburied feces around the lake, lit fires in the fragile alpine environment with wood scavenged from historic mining structures, and trampled vegetation that may take hundreds of years to recover.”

Any correlation?
Weren’t they told to stay home and smoke weed and watch Netflix?
They aren’t your private trails. Suck it up.
definitely noticed it- all the hiking spots around us used to be barely used except for locals once in awhile- now you can’t find parking anywhere hardly anymore-
It isn’t as much Covid as it is Instagram. People who have never heard of trails are getting Instagram videos and the videos are giving them ideas. One such group of young people was at Long Lake in California two weeks ago. They parked two pickup trucks at the trailhead, and seven of them hiked up and spent the night at the lake. The next day, they pretended it was not their truck that we saw the bear eating out of. They also left quite a bit of trash at the place where they camped.
They left their food unprotected in the bed and a bear was up the hill a little way eating their tortilla chips. It also ate a package of Oreo cookies, a pretty good sized bag of trail mix and a Mountain House dehydrated lasagna dinner. we picked up the trash that the bear left.
We talked to the people. They said it wasn’t their truck, and they said they had never been there before. They had no experience camping because they were carrying grocery bags and an ice chest. We take all our stuff in a bear-proof container, and pack out all of our trash.
Very informative, thanks.
There’s a little ‘hike’ in the Summer from Badwater in Death Valley to Mt. Whitney.
Not too crowded.

An elitist snob. “Only I should be able to use the trails.”
