Just got the following email from Shutterfly :
Dear ————,
We’re updating our Privacy Notice and Terms of Use, reflecting our ongoing commitment to be transparent about how we use your data and keep it safe.
We invite you to read our policies in full, but in summary, we updated our Privacy Notice to further explain: When we might share a user’s information with law enforcement or government agencies, for example, if use of our services indicates criminal activity or poses a danger to the safety of others.
How our face grouping feature automatically groups similar faces together when you upload photos of yourself, friends, family or others. We offer this feature to help you organize your photo collection and jumpstart your projects. For most Shutterfly users, this feature is currently enabled, but you may disable it at any time by going to My Photos, then My Photos Settings in the dropdown by your name. You will find the Face Grouping toggle switch in Image Preferences. We also updated our Terms of Use to explain how either of us may initiate an arbitration proceeding in the event of a dispute.
Keeping your data safe and maintaining transparency are important to us. These updates will take effect on July 23, 2021 and no further action is required by you. Your continued use of our websites and/or mobile applications acknowledges your acceptance of these updated terms. Thank you for being a Shutterfly customer!
Assume you’re fully ‘exposed’ — because you are.
Even data not accessible to internet is not 100% safe. Computers can be physically seized. All one can do is make it more safe, never 100%. Encrypting hard drive is a way to help, but its not 100% because they might get the encryption key somehow.

You are right on that. There is no safe data on computers. Even if you had the best encryption, it’s only a matter of time before it is accessed.
The only safe data is what is not on a computer.
Give them time. Lots of research going on as to how to get to memories/thoughts.
Hopefully it will be like fusion and always 50 years off, but I fear it might not be.
Received that email this AM. Routed it to Junk.
“Lying to an FBI agent is a felony”.
Today speaking to any member of law enforcement, without an attorney you have hired present and a tape recorder running, is insanity. Authorities seem more intent on punishing people for misstatements, poor memories and simple mistakes when under extreme stress than heinous crimes. Lying to an FBI agent, often in a situation of entrapment, may send one to prison for more years than armed robbery. We have learned the FBI agents will change their notes regarding interviews after the fact, and those revised notes are considered by the courts to be “truth”.
Even having an attorney isn’t a guarantee of protection. Attorneys will dump paying clients under political pressure or convince them to plea bargain to crimes they did not commit. You are only one client and doing poorly by you may ingratiate an attorney inside the judicial swamp he must navigate during a long career. An attorney may succumb to pressure from prosecutors, judges and members of law enforcement in order to survive. We live in a dog eat dog justice system where seeking truth is secondary to the tyranny of the state, the political ambitions of the players, the objectives of the economically powerful, and the current agendas of the social justice community. In today’s America truth and justice for the individual is subservient to the community.
I don’t see this as any different than any other concern concerning the cloud and privacy. If you’re online there is no privacy.
The orange is suspect.
He’s an idiot tho. He was bragging about it a few days later with a stranger on a dating app.
“poses a danger to the safety of others.”
That means saying something negative about the vax, or posting a picture of a rally near the Capitol. Group pictures of blm criminals or antifa thugs are exempt.
That definition of “ use their services for criminal activity or to cause danger to others” is, like other social media outlets, rapidly expanding into “if you use their services to further the republican party.”
NOW do you have an objection to where this is headed?
yup
+1
I wonder if someone set up an account an posted only pictures of Hunter Biden’s laptop. Would that finally get someone’s attention?
Your Film processor did not have Facial Recognition and AI software to analyze your photos.
And you film processor did not keep copies of your pictures forever.
And your film processor did not obtain copyrights to your pictures by virtue of your giving your film to them for processing.
Why I never upload *anything!*
Great post. You only have to say who you are. After that each comment carries a liability.
“Criminal Activity” = Going to a Trump Rally.
Wearing a red MAGA hat is considered dangerous in the modern world.
I have my own cloud. Nextcloud software. No pics though. Just prepper/homesteading/gardening info that I uploaded with the intent of sharing. All is or was freely available on the web to begin with.
