For the first time since 1972, Team USA failed to win any medals to open the Summer Olympics on Saturday in Tokyo.
Team USA Olympians endured several upset losses during the first day of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, taking home none of the 11 gold medals that were awarded on Saturday Japanese time, or Friday in the U.S.
The team also failed to win any of the silver or bronze medals for any of the opening day events, which included archery, cycling, fencing, judo, air rifle and pistol shooting, taekwondo, and weightlifting.
Brady Ellison, the number two seed Team USA archer who has won three Olympic medals in games past, was one of the American Olympic athletes to suffer an opening day upset loss.
'I'm still a little shocked,' Ellison said after Saturday’s event, according to a USA Today report.
'I completely expected us to win a medal today.'
According to Olympic historian Bill Mallon, the U.S. team has gotten a medal on every first day that its athletes have played since 1972 in Munich.

Chastising their teammate/s in secrecy is cowardly.
Since the kneeling was done in public the chastisement, for it to carry any weight, should also be done in public.

Saw some of the early games with US woman’s softball game. All players not only stood, but put their hands over their hearts. I’m rooting for them.
First time ever for me to not be rooting for the US team.
If you hate the country, don’t represent it at the Olympics.
The only thing that I might watch is women’s gymnastics..I honestly dont see Simone Biles doing that kneeling nonsense..at least I hope not

The 2021 Olympics will be remembered as the Woke Games. It will not be a positive connection. More likely, it will be viewed as the beginning of the end for the Olympic Era. The medals can be handed out before the competition based on a Woke analysis from the Romanian Judge and the Democrat Party National Committee. Kamala Harris can hand out all of the medals.
Well, duh. They’re almost all woke idiots who prefer politics to sport. What did people expect?
It's a competition sport and is very popular in the US. They use high tech rifles, sort of a BB gun on steroids but as precision built as firearms. The big advantage is you don't need a rifle range but a much smaller range. It's also easier for young people to participate.
Oh the humanity!
Other countries are more affluent than they were and have more leisure time to train and more skills and technology than they used to have. In particular, the US could always win women’s medals because other countries discouraged women’s sports. Now they don’t.
