We live in a country where John Lennon takes six bullets in the chest, Yoko Ono was standing right next to him, not ONE ______ BULLET! Explain that to me! - Dennis Leary
I still say John would be back to full-on lefty by now had he lived. Can’t see him opposing Oh-buh-maw.
Paul is dead.
Well, don’t we all evolve in some ways? How many of you have the same opinions or world view/outlook that you had when you were 19 or 20 or 25? How many of you can see you were naive about various subjects in your past? I think all of us can identify with such a concept.
Well, Harrison may have written Taxman but undoubtedly Lennon agreed.
Carter obviously was on the other end of that argument.
If you listen to Lennon’s long form interview, I think with Rolling Stone in 1980 it’s pretty obvious he had moved from a radical hippie mindset to a family man mindset.
I heard it back in the day but have no idea if it’s even available now. It was several hours longs. Maybe 10-12 hours in all. I remember hearing it in hour long segments broadcast weekly about 1981.
Finally, according to a book titled All We Are Saying: The Last Major Interview of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Lennon questioned the theory of evolution, mocking the notion that man descended from apes:
“I don’t believe in the evolution of fish to monkeys to men. Why aren’t monkeys changing into men now?,” Lennon asked. “It’s absolute garbage. It’s absolutely irrational garbage, as mad as the ones who believe the world was made only four thousand years ago, the fundamentalists.... I don’t buy it. I’ve got no basis for it and no theory to offer, I just don’t buy it. Something other than that. Something simpler. I don’t buy anything other than “It always was and ever shall be.”
If John Lennon had become a Reagan-loving, TV-evangelist watching, evolution-mocking 40-year old, it was certainly no crime.
But if Yoko knew it and kept it from us for the last 30 years, surely that would be a crime against the truth from a woman whose family motto was: “All I want is the truth. Just give me some truth”
I always knew that b!tch was evil to the bone!
Frank Gifford tells the story of Reagan and Lennon meeting one night on Monday Night Football. Reagan had his arms around Lennon’s shoulders, explaining the game to him. Lennon was like a little kid listening to his dad.
At the time of his death, Lennon was a heroin addict weighing in at something like 112 lbs.
loser/poser. George Harrison had more in his pinky finger.
John’s son Sean is very conservative today.
Imagine there’s no Yoko…
Imagine there’s no lib’rals
It’s easy if you try...
Ono! Bu-bye, Yoko...
John was only moments away from breaking up with Ono when he was killed. I believe it became a marriage of convenience — mostly to her.
Who knows if his Christianity swing would have lasted, but his relationship with Ono wouldn’t have...
Nobody cares what Yoko thinks.
Hey I was shocked when I saw that Seamen interview at the end of “Beetles Stories” (I think I saw it on Netflix).
FREEPERS bashed me when I tried to tell them that Lennon supported Reagan.
I hope they are still around and notice this...
John was a walking contradiction. Had he lived he would’ve supported RR, then soured on him and supported Mondull, then every Dem afterwards. He likely would let conservative opinions leak then apologize or clarify to save face with his celebrity friends.
