If you listen to Lennon’s long form interview, I think with Rolling Stone in 1980 it’s pretty obvious he had moved from a radical hippie mindset to a family man mindset.

I heard it back in the day but have no idea if it’s even available now. It was several hours longs. Maybe 10-12 hours in all. I remember hearing it in hour long segments broadcast weekly about 1981.

One of the things Lennon became involved in during his time in NYC was in starting a fund to provide body armor to NYPD cops. At the time the city was bankrupt and Koch was trying all sorts of tricks to provide lots of city services. Lennon led an effort to get vests for the rank and file cop.

I have the written interviews of Lennon by Rolling Stone. The book is called “Lennon Remembers.” Great interviews. Lennon was very candid as was his wont. And, yes, he had grown much more conservative since his druggie days.
