Police said a Dubuque woman was arrested Thursday for firing a gun after finding out about her husband's affair.
Dahnicca John, 32, of 195 Kaufmann Ave., was arrested at 1:22 p.m. Thursday at Glenview Motel, 1050 Rockdale Road, on charges of domestic assault while displaying a dangerous weapon and reckless use of a firearm.
Court documents state that officers responded to the motel after receiving a report of a disturbance involving a firearm. John's husband, Clement Livai, 33, also of 195 Kaufmann Ave., told officers that John followed him to the motel, where he was with another woman, after finding out he was having an affair.
Livai went outside to talk to John and saw she was holding a handgun that he had in his vehicle, documents state. Livai told officers that the gun went off when he grabbed John's wrist, though no one was injured from the shot. Livai then was able to get the gun away from John and put it back in his vehicle.
Livai told police that John did not point the weapon at him at any point.
John told officers that she took the weapon from Livai's vehicle and fired it "in an attempt to get Livai not to run from her," documents state.

Lots of women in the US keep their own names when they marry, usually for business reasons, as I did.
And there are countries where, traditionally, women have never changed their names when they’ve married.
