Nancy Pelosi has some unfinished business with Donald Trump.
The volatile former president and Pelosi foe is long gone from the White House but still haunts Capitol Hill. And as much as some in her party might want to move on from Trump, the speaker has made overseeing an investigation of the deadliest attack on the Capitol in two centuries into a core mission this year — putting her squarely in the path of the former president who Democrats say played a central role in the insurrection.
Her GOP opponents are warning that Pelosi’s close involvement in the select committee on Jan. 6 exposes its efforts to politicization and failure. But the California Democrat and her allies insist it’s the best way to prevent a repeat of the deadly day when thousands of rioters stormed the Capitol bent on overturning a democratic election and threatened to kill members of Congress.
“They wanted to kill her. They were hunting her,” Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.) said. “I don’t think this is a political calculation at all. You’re talking about the greatest assault on our democracy in over 100 years.”
Pelosi huddled with the panel’s seven Democrats and sole GOP member, Rep. Liz Cheney, in her office on Thursday afternoon. A devout Catholic, she led the group in prayer before stressing the “solemnity” of their work ahead.
“The facts will take us where we go, not anything else,” Pelosi told the group, according to a source in the room.
Members of Pelosi’s inner circle insist that she doesn’t consider the select panel as legacy-defining work during what could be her final turn with the gavel. Instead, her confidants say, Pelosi feels like she was left with no choice after GOP leaders mobilized to block an independent probe...

Dear God, I have a suggestion for your next lightning bolt.
That incident on Jan 6 was a political disaster for Trump and his followers. Yes, it’s being unfairly over-hyped by the Dems, but Trump completely stepped in it by holding his rally on that day. His lack of political finesse really cost him IMO. Why? He broke one of my non-negotiable rules of life: Never give your opponents a club to hit you over the head with. Now we have these silly Jan 6 hearings. Sheesh!!!!
After those crazy left wing summer riots last year, Trump clearly had the high ground in these matters… and he could have used that for the next four years. But because of Jan 6, the entire movement was put on the defensive. Trump walked into a set up he should have seen ok’ing. Not good politics!!! We need to be smarter people.
Precisely.
Actually, you don’t.
Congress rejected the hearings.
This is just democrat nonsense !
Piglosi bears more responsibility for anything that occurred on Jan 6th than Donald Trump ever could. She refused the requests for reinforcements to the Capital Hill Police. She sought to effect a coup with members of the military. She encouraged the FIB to conduct false flag operations.
These hearings are her opportunity to shape the narrative and avoid blame.
So they would have January 7th hearings instead.
It has been proven that these people will lie, cheat, and steal to get what they want.
It makes no difference.
Without any Republicans on the committee she won't be.
Constitutionally the only thing that can prevent Trump from running for the presidency in 2024 is if he's reinstated to the office before then.
You’re missing the big picture. 1/6 is another Deep State/Fake News hoax. Like impeachment 1.0, Russia, Charlottesville, Flynn, etc. Suggesting that MAGA voters do not have a right to protest after the stolen election is outrageous.
What’s been a “disaster” for Trump is weak and surrender prone GOP voters who attack him instead of the real enemy: the now 5 year long bipartisan coup that disenfranchised us all.
Remember when Rand Paul was leaving the White House and was set upon by a mob? Paul said they were trying to kill him.
Unlike ice-cream eating Pelousy. Paul was actually assaulted.
Pelosi is a domestic enemy and should be confined to a coffin
Heather Caygle and Sarah Ferris write a brazen and contemptible lie and distortion when they state as a matter of fact that the Jan. 6 riot was “the deadliest attack on the Capitol in two centuries”
There have been countless attacks, nearly all of them more deadly and causing more damage than Jan. 6, when the only death was caused by a Capitol police officer.
While the British burning of the Capitol during the War of 1812 is slightly more than 200 years ago, it should hardly be dismissed from this comparison as no other event even comes close.
Here are a few from more recent history from an article from the website of the History Channel:
A History of Attacks at the US Capitol
https://www.history.com/news/us-capitol-building-violence-fires
On March 1, 1954, four Puerto Rican Americans fired guns in the House of Representatives, injuring five congressmen. The attackers said they acted to demand independence for the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico. (Puerto Ricans have U.S. citizenship but can’t vote for president and have no voting representatives in Congress.) The injured congressmen survived, and the four shooters received prison sentences. President Jimmy Carter commuted one of their sentences in 1977, and granted clemency to the other three in 1979.
On March 1, 1971, a bomb exploded in the Capitol building. While the explosion did not injure anyone, it caused some $300,000 in damage. A group calling itself the Weather Underground claimed to be behind the bombing and said it was in protest of the ongoing U.S.-supported bombing of Laos.
Thirteen years later, on November 7, 1983, a bomb tore through the second floor of the Senate wing of the Capitol. The device detonated late in the evening and no one was harmed, but it caused an estimated $250,000 in damage. A group calling itself the Armed Resistance Unit later claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was in retaliation for military actions in Grenada and Lebanon. Seven people were eventually arrested in connection with the attack.
Political causes aside, individuals have committed acts of violence on Capitol grounds through the decades. These incidents include an 1890 fatal shooting sparked by a feud between a reporter and a former congressman and a 1998 fatal shooting of two Capitol Police officers in 1998 by a man who claimed the U.S. was plagued by cannibalism and a fictional disease.
One of those arrested and imprisoned for the 1983 bombing is now a Democrat honcho connected to BLM. I kid you not.
Karen Bass Karen is an adult child with power, and an enemy within.
.....Karen is aptly named.
deadliest attack..
No one even smashed Pelosi’s laptop, (that i think the Chinese now have).
Given what we DO know about these self-indulgent power-crazed people, is any sane person surprised at what mockery of justice they will force on us next??
Without weapons,
....but, but, there was Viking horns, and, and, flag sticks, and they LOOKED MEAN.
(Not like ANY of the Peaceful Protests in Portland, and elsewhere)
The election process is in complete shambles.. The idea that Conservatives (It's no longer about republicans and democrats) have any chance at all at the voting booth is, in my opinion, laughable.
The invasion and downfall of America is already well underway and almost NOTHING is being done to stop it.! And one of those who are running the circus in DC is that filthy little treasonous know as Obama. The others are the industrialist who are heavily invested in China..
China, because of our failure to teach our young people patriotism and love of country and whether we like it or not, is going to be our future. And China, as we know, has no place for the muslim or the black man in the new world.. Well, maybe for spare parts, but that's about it..
So, .....whats next.?? Maybe the spark.? That "Shot heard round the world." Something will happen that will start the great purge of America.. Even now, you can feel it.. What you see everyday in the media and on the news, and what you hear from your neighbor and at church. The hate is starting to build.
There's no shortage of useful idiots and you can be sure China will be the man behind the curtain pulling all their strings...
Sorry for the rant... :(
“Trump walked into a set up he should have seen” coming.
In a number of matters. He was trusting. He trusted most people in DC to be good, honest, patriotic people. I hope he is past that.
President Trump: Assume every person in DC politics is a poser for gain, another grifter in the Den of Con-men (DC).
More like Trump didn’t have much choice. It was either who Cocaine Mitch would let him have, or nothing.
DJT drove her completely bat chip crazy.
😁👍👌
