Today is my two-year anniversary of signing up for an account on Free Republic and posting a comment.
I realize this perhaps is nothing to brag about considering the number of vanity posts by Freepers about their 20-year anniversaries. However, consider also that in order to remain vibrant, a site like FR needs new blood as well as loyal long-termers.
To this end, I am calling on lurkers to de-lurk and take the plunge, get an account, and start posting. Many of you may have come close to doing so at one time because you saw something you wanted to respond to. Maybe you had an answer to a question or important insight to offer a discussion because of what you do for a living or where you live.
I had lurked, on and off, for over a decade. This post is finally the one that inspired me to de-lurk:

I found FR after the “Sore Loserman” fiasco of 2000. I remember the night they called Florida for Gore - - It was like the heavens were screaming in my head that it was wrong and we would not know the real vote for some time.
FR then was a jewel.
I also hope that more lurkers will join and become active on FreeRepublic, BUT . . . only if they truly and honestly stand with Jim Robinson and subscribe to his vision for America. If they are wokeists . . . continue to lurk ONLY . . . and perhaps they might learn something.
I did and have... However... It seems as though there are some who simply want to run some of us off as though we don’t belong. This is their “territory”... like a biker gang that waltzes in and takes over a bar, runs off any paying customers, drinks all the booze(without paying) and then sets fire to the place before they set off to destroy something else. They pretend to have some sort of authority, like they have some badge(that they don’t have). Part of me feels sorry for them... but ultimately they are a nuisance and annoyed people seek other venues. If they are NOT “actual moderators”, they need to be put in their place. As a young man, I had to thrust off bullies with physical violence. It worked. But! in a venue like this, they just know that they can bully and never get their nose bloodied. I recognize them, hell I grew up having to contend with them. I could name some names(monikers), but what would be the point? A bully is a bully and everybody knows who they are. I don’t care about them AND they sure don’t scare me! If they are not willing to meet me “face-to-face” and try to bully me, then I just see them as what they are “cowards”. However! These cowards will run off a LOT of willing paying customers who simply don’t want to deal with these bullies.
I’ve donated, more than once. But, its seems that I run into bullies that cause me pause as to wither to continue donating and participating. I was considering another donation earlier today. But then I get unsolicited unwelcome post from some jackass who considers himself a “poobah” on your site and just wants to pick an argument... In the physical world I can drag his sorry ass out into the parking lot and beat the crap out of him (EVEN at my age!) BUT... these cowardly little bullies will run off anybody with a dime they can’t steal from you.
This site belongs to Jim Robinson. He travels to many events and I met him once in Fresno and hung around awhile. In person he is very mild mannered but online he is a lion. Almost like Superman and Clark Kent. Thanks for donating . Welcome to Jim's home away from home!
well he (JR) should pay attention to the bully a holes and tell them to knock it off!!! Otherwise I assume he’s A OK with it all.
and the same to the self appointed mods, donation hounds and the like.
I ignore all of them but can see how they would get old real fast.
Rather than get in a flame fest I usually push the abuse button when someone gets personal. I figure getting into a fight with a pig only draws the attention the pig wants and gets you as dirty as the pig.

There is always time to churn about those things you listed.
Before you all start to "offer a discussion because of what you do for a living" try DONATING A $100, and then I'll be more interested in how writing code from your home is so demanding.
For some one that "doesn't care about them" you sure spend a lot of verbiage yakking about bullies.
Other than the mods and Jim, no one can boot you from FR and who wants to boot you?

How does that work?
If someone disagrees with your opinion, does that fall into the 'bully category'? If that's what you mean by 'bullying you' I haven't noticed any of your past postings, but I'll keep an open eye for them, and if we disagree, you will know it.

I would think that in these times with the new KGB hunting us online, people will be more apt to start lurking than to stop lurking.

I’ll agree with that...one of the best around. I finally signed up around 2015 or so, mostly to help drum up some support for some guy named Trump...had been lurking for about 4 or 5 years.
Gotta have a thick skin sometimes, but it’s a great place, tremendous source of legitimate news, what with people like kaslin scouring every news site they can find...(only nick I can remember right now, and mostly because I just read a couple of his posts) There are several others just as good.
I know about a dozen news resources now I never knew existed before stumbling into FR digging through a google search. Long before I dropped google.
