I care about the future; therefore, I care about the climate. I belong to the vast majority of global citizens who, as poll after poll show, are concerned about the direction the planet is heading and understand the urgency and existential nature of the impending climate emergency. The recent catastropic flooding in central Europe and extreme high temperatures in North America are just a few symptoms of this.
So in my family, we do something about it. We scrimp and save on our carbon budget: we walk or ride bikes instead of driving our car; we eat dramatically less meat than the average family in industrialized countries; we skip that trans-Atlantic trip even if we really want it; we make sure we’re not wasting food and we also compost our scraps.
And then some filthy rich ***hole blasts into space, just for fun.
That’s incredibly selfish, isn’t it?
And it really devaluates our efforts to protect the climate — both morally and materially. […]
Let’s take Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic space flight on July 11. For a suborbital journey of about 100 miles (160 kilometers), the company said the carbon dioxide emissions released were roughly equal to a round-trip trans-Atlantic passenger jet flight. Based on publicly available information, a trip from London to New York City releases about 1.24 metric tons of CO2. To put it another way, that 1½-hour jaunt into space was equivalent to about 3,000 miles (4,800 kilometers) of driving an average passenger car. …

Commie says what?
Face it you’re not God and you can’t change the climate
>>> the impending climate emergency <<<
The Marxist wet dream since 1972.
What “impending climate emergency”?
No envy there, no suh! Marxists are so predictable.

Here is a thought on how those worried about climate change can put their money where their mouth is. Those people seem to believe climate changed is caused by people and that we have too many people. The solution is simple. All those people need to do to save the planet is to put six bullets into a revolver and play Russian roulette. Fewer people save the planet, right?
I’d go along with climate change/global warming if those science people can come up with how to stop volcano’s from going blooie tossing ash into the atmosphere.
It starts with a REALLY big cork stopper...
Thanks for posting.
That’s pretty funny. She can eat bugs, if it makes her feel better. I’ll have the steak, please.
There is a good chance her kids are going to realize what a whack-job she was, one day, and enjoy steak, too.
“...are concerned about the direction the planet is heading...”
And if a rich ***hole wants to go into space and has means to do so, he gets to go for it. It’s called freedom. But you don’t really like freedom do you? You want all of us to live like Medieval peasants and if you had the power, you’d try to force the lifestyle on us.
What is needed is to conquer global hunger, and raise a few generations of properly fed, well nourished, and STEM educated researchers.
Why?
Perhaps a well nourished brain trust will figure it out, without multiple agenda driven wishlists and wannabe scientific retards pontificating utter non sensical BS.
Usually environmentalists preach communism for the masses while excusing the hypocritical actions of Bill Gates, Leo DiCaprio and others, so, uh, some credit for consistency, I guess.
The big difference between the filthy rich A-hole and the author is that the former is using his own money while the author wants to use yours whether you like it or not.
They never say exactly what they will do to stop climate change. That is what I would like to know.
Sonya, you can shove your global citizenship up your commie ass. I am an American citizen, not a global citizen. I don't give two craps what some leftist from another country thinks or feels. Go to hell.
