I don’t see anyway it can go on now. I just hope NBC loses all that money.
They had announced that no spectators will be at the games. They have to be taking a big financial bath on this, with no spectators, no tourists coming to Japan to see the games.
The money is just one aspect of big events such as the Olympics, but, I’m sure the losses will be staggering and over and above what they had budgeted for.

The Japanese are really big on not losing face. They are too far in to get out now.
I don’t wish for cancellation. A lot of young people have worked and sacrificed for this moment.
However, a cancellation will be an object lesson in what government brings. Maybe a few of the indoctrinated will be attentive enough to see.
NBC had paid some big bucks for the rights to the Olympics. I’m sure the attorneys can tell us, what happens if the big event a network has paid the big bucks for is canceled. Are there insurance policies which may give NBC some reimbursement?

It’ll be because nobody wants to watch.
But since that won’t be covered by insurance, they’ll blame CoupFlu, which might help them recover some of their losses.
So if half the athletes are taken out by COVID, is this really a competition? Every Gold Medal will have an asterisk.
Nobody is going to cancel the Olympics unless NBC says it’s OK to cancel them.

Anecdotally there is concern about COVID-19 affecting the Olympics according to my stepdaughter. She worked in downtown (Chiyoda) Tokyo today and said there were less people on the express train than normal, but maybe people are talking a couple extra days off before the national holidays on Thursday and Friday.
I’d like to feel sorry for the ordinary athletes who have spent years and years training for the Olympics.
It’s not there fault China released Covid on the world. It’s not their fault many countries focus on petty politics instead of true sportsmanship.
Yet - they knew the Olympics was a slimy snake when they joined in.
What about those who trained for Moscow, or the Eastern-Bloc who trained for Los Angeles, who didn't get to go?

The TV audience is world wide, not just NBC and the US. We may well be sick of the Olympics, and NBC’s stupid coverage of them, but you can be sure that TV sets in Mexico or Brazil will be tuned in when their teams/athletes compete.
Just cancel them from now on. They cannot discern between the sexes? Not interested.
At least the East Germans covered it up.
