Following another violent weekend in Chicago in which 56 people were shot, 11 fatally, the Chicago Police Department Superintendent David Brown announced a new strategy to combat gun violence.
Brown said the department will create a team of 50 officers to target gun traffickers, straw buyers, unscrupulous licensed firearms dealers and anyone who facilitates the flow of illegal guns into the city.
"The point of this investigations team -- which is new and unique, and a first in its class -- is to get the gun before it hits the streets at the trafficking level," Brown said at a news conference Monday. "These third parties need to hear me loud and clear: We're coming for you, and we're going to try to charge you with the highest charge we can, if not in the federal system, then at the state attorney's office."
The new strategy comes amid an 11% increase in shootings in Chicago this year over the same time period as last year.
Aiming his words at those who purchase illegal guns used in crimes, he said, "Do not buy guns for violent people is our message, or you will pay the price for them by doing what we hope to be serious time."
"Whatever they're paying you to go buy these guns ... it's blood money," Brown said. "Blood is on your hands, and we're coming for you."
He said the new gun investigations team will work closely with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives as well as state and federal prosecutors in an attempt to demolish any gun pipelines into the city and bring purveyors of illegal firearms to justice.

It sounds to me, in reality, like they’ll be going after the kid that grandpa gave the single shot shotgun to. If they want to stop the bloodshed they should get advice from Rudy Giuliani. Start concentrating on the young punks who fill their days and nights committing overt misdemeanors and low level felonies. Roust and arrest these guys and you’ll be picking up most of the gunners in the process. Unfortunately, that would racist. Better to focus on those racist bullets that only seem to target our better citizens.
Soros backed prosecutor does not prosecute gun crimes.
The Mayor ordered the CPD Gun Crimes task force disbanded when she came into office.
Also the Cook Count Gun Court was terminated under Raham Emanuel.
All done to appease their voter base.
Won’t work if the DA refuses to prosecute.
The first screams of racism and racial profiling will bring this to a screeching halt.
Are they fixing their demographics problem?
They have a secret plan to stop these artificially intelligent guns from targeting humans.
They will send all the guns to the Chicago public schools to make them stupid.

From the Chicago Rats who (in Federal power) brought you Operation Fast and Furious whereby they actually sold the guns to the bad guys. Between incompetence and pure Rat-government corruption this should be good.

In general it is not large, organized cartels bringing guns to Chicago.
It is one or two at a time, by tightly trusted, family and close associates.
Guns are *not* the problem.
The attitude of no rule of law is the problem.
The blatant corruption and racism against white people is the problem.
The racist Democrat party at it again-—disarming the black citizens.

That is exactly it. Then they will trumpet that 500 man hours spent as a success.
That's what I noticed too. You would think that if you wanted to stop or at least reduce violence in a city then job #1 would be to go after the people committing the acts of violence. Get them off the streets, and keep them off the street. No more revolving-door justice system.
Instead, they are apparently going to try to deny violent people the tools to commit acts of violence. I guess the thinking, flawed as it is, is that these violent people won't turn to other means to commit violent acts? Right...
Probably the worst thing that could happen would be for them to actually have some modest level of success at interdicting the supply of illegal weapons. With all those criminals still on the street, the demand will skyrocket. That will drive prices of illegal weapons higher. That will mean more theft, more illegal activities to pay the higher prices. That lucrative business of providing weapons will attract more criminals to get in on the action... Yeah, that's going to work out really well for the city... ;-/
Yeah, that won’t work. People better face up to the real problem. It is a black culture problem. That is not racist. It is a fact. Whitey ain’t going to change the problem either. It has to come from good black men.
I was talking to a detective from Chicago a couple of years ago. He told me that the police would arrest the criminals, but the district attorney would refuse to prosecute.
Ooooo, a new plan. Supervised by the same people who did the old plan.
