The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
If you have specific question about a plant/problem you are having, please remember to state the Growing Zone where you are located.
This thread is a non-political respite. No matter what, you wonβt be flamed, and the only dumb question is the one that isnβt asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table Recipes, Preserving, Good Living - there is no telling where it will go - and that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us! Send a Private Message to Diana in Wisconsin if you'd like to be added to our New & Improved Ping List.
NOTE: This is a once a week Ping List. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest to Gardeners are welcomed any time!

Recipe below. Can also be done in the oven:
I wpuld think bimonthly goes well with organizing rhe garden/greenhouse materials.....I know scotch does a little bit but you end up quitting too quickly so I went with beer this time.
LOL!
Sun is coming back out...perfecto.....morning rain then sun to dry out the tomato plants.
I ran around this a.m. using the Chester’s method of wet tomato plants leaning and bending from water weight to see the plants I need to hack back or zip tie to the bamboo poles more
it maybe white flies, check the underside of the leaves...
I just went out and checked. Pulled of 4 leaves, nothing, saw just a few tiny brown spots not scale.
is there any black formations on the stems?...
I don’t have much experience with theses type plants. But You may want to remove the dieing one and replant it in a pot in a different spot away from the other nicer plant. Sometimes what ever it is might spread to the others. Once in the pot try to heal it.
you may want to remove it before the other one gets infected...
i would recommend getting a krill (sp) oil based bug spray and treat the infected one and ground around it to avoid spreading...
Thanks and Thanks too heavy metal I found this document and there are pictures. I am thinking maybe root rot??

it could be root rot...
it’s definitely a fungus...
it’s difficult to determine without actually seeing the plant...
look into the bug spray i recommended earlier...
yes and thanks I will look into that I am definitely going to yank the plant. After today it does not look salvageable
i agree... get rid of it...
and you’re welcome...
That’s a great resource. Thanks!
I feel like my knowledge has boosted.
I will say that I remember my grandma asking me to help remove a diseased flower plant and her telling me she didn’t want it to spread. They looked like your pics. I’ve kinda been doing that with most my plants. Only the strongest will survive!
Can’t count the plants who have died on my watch.
I agree with the root rot diagnosis.
What’s the rain like coming off the roof onto that spot? I have a spot across the front where everything but ONE Viburnum are vibrant and healthy. The one that’s not doing as well does get too much water when it rains.
Also, you could have a pocket of clay where the dying Rhodie is planted, which is holding to much moisture for it to thrive.
Any problem with a snow dump off the roof there, or is it getting salt from the walkway in the winter months?
Good call to pull the shrub - just in case. I would.
