Tuesday’s Rays-Orioles game to feature first all-female broadcast crew

ST. PETERSBURG — What otherwise might seem a mundane Tuesday night Rays game at Tropicana Field against the last-place Orioles will be historic before the first pitch is thrown.

That’s because it will be the first major-league game called by an all-female broadcast team, per Major League Baseball and YouTube, which will show the game exclusively.

Is it safe to assume these ladies have played MLB so they know exactly what they are talking about?

Well Vince Scully never played MLB and he seemed to know what he was talking about. But I seriously doubt that these ladies will rise to his level of baseball broadcasting excellence. Seriously what is MLB trying to prove with this stunt? Are they, like the NFL, determined to drive fans away?

I always thought she was awful. Go on YouTube and do a search on “Suzyn Waldman Roger Clemens.” That episode was ridiculous. They would play it for years after that on Don Imus’ radio show in NYC whenever they had Yankee highlights with her announcing the game. LOL.

Who’s going to be paying attention to the game, when all eyes will be on the all-female crew.

I don’t understand what they are trying to prove. Making it an exception to the normal creates an atmosphere of unacceptability because of the identification of difference. It turns it into a circus instead of a broadcast. And when people are forced and expected to accept something different they will not determine it to be normal but challenging them. Sometimes difference creates fear. And going this far this fast falls into that category.
