Insurance rates UP
Vanity ^ | July 14, 2021 | Self

As anticipated, insurance rates are going up not just a little.

Received my annual bill yesterday. It reflects an 18% increase in premium. All of the increase is in the replacement cost. None of it is an increase in insurance rate.

If you haven't already you'll get your bundle of joy soon.

Covid is the gift that keeps on giving.

I totaled my F-250 and she totaled her Explorer about 2 years ago and both were our fault. I hadn’t caused and accident in decades. But I can see why people roll with no car insurance. Let’s see, pay the $150 fine for no insurance or $520 a month for our beater cars? Tough choice, but I’m still legal.

When you say, “$150 fine for no insurance,” are you talking about literally no auto insurance—or no collision insurance?

Paying the fine for collision is one thing (where I live, can remove collision as long as keep the other coverages), but what about Liability insurance? If another driver is injured in a crash, having no insurance would put one in the poor house wouldn’t it?

When there's lots of "free" money being thrown around...there's always gonna be folks who know how to take advantage.

The early worm gets the bird.

$8k for the FLHX

$2k for the ambulance ride (I told them no lights or siren)

$48.8k for 4 days, 4 broken ribs, punctured lung

A-hole knocked me off the bike then ran over and drug me 90ft trying to leave the scene, said he didn't see me.

“transitory”

Nothing to worry about. CNN has assured us.

Why I keep resisting the temptation to get a bike.

Inflation is the thing of course. What caused it? Lockdowns, under supply and over demand, deficit spending out the wazoo and more to come.

It's going to keep me out of the nursing home...

One way or the other.

Inflation took me out of the homeowners insurance game some time ago, so there’s no point now in even checking rates. I am on a fixed income, so try to find ways of living on less most of the time. Pretty sure this less-than-worthless administration in power now will find ways to make it even tougher.

Lol. 40 mph, looked away for literally one second and all the cars in front of me stopped though the light was green. I hit a sedan that hit another and another. It was a 2004 with 277 miles on it and the insurance company gave me $10k for it, still. Wife totalled her Explorer 3 weeks before that. Was a bad month.

Yes no insurance. I’m not sure about the fine actually. But lots of people do it in FL. Son in law got hit driving one of my cars. The lady just gave the cop fake insurance cards. I had full coverage but had to pay the deductible because the lady that caused the accident didn’t really have insurance.

Eh it surprises me.

One of my children was hit by a drunk driver...there were medical bills—lots of them. I had medical coverage on my auto insurance to cover it.

The drunk driver’s insurance finally covered it after our insurance co took them to court.

Just don’t know how anyone could handle an accident with injuries w/o having coverage—it could bankrupt them...

In Florida attorneys mostly only take injury cases of the injured when the person who caused the accident is either very wealthy or the work for a company with major insurance coverage. You can’t get blood from a turnip.
