As cossetted, spoiled. U.S. leftists despoil the U.S. flag, those who know what real tyranny is have another take.
Maybe Cuban kids in the future will remember this weekend's marches as the beginning of a new chapter in the island's history. We certainly hope so. It looks from here that the government has few options. They can fight back or do nothing. Either way the marches will go on.
We've had a lot of debate up here about the U.S. flag. So it was fascinating to read about a certain flag carried by protesters in Cuba.
This is the story:
Protesters in America: Burn the US Flag, a symbol of freedom, liberty, & justice—ideals that EVERY American possesses but so often ignore.
vs.
Protestors in Cuba: Fly the American Flag & are willing to die for the freedom, liberty, & justice that’s synonymous with the USA.
I don't know if the wokes, or their indoctrinators in U.S. colleges, understand what this means, but it happened. It reminded me of Lady Liberty marching in Hong Kong not long ago.
It's amazing. On one hand, immature U.S. citizens, spoiled by prosperity and freedom they don't appreciate, won't respect the U.S. flag.
On the other hand, people brought up in a communist state with no freedom sure know what flag represents their aspirations of freedom.
As someone said, a teachable moment if the wokes are smart enough to see it.

It is not a teachable moment. The wokes are not smart enough to see it. They are living in a false reality where they think they never have to grow up.
By definition ... those who are woke are asleep.
The wife and I are saying more prayers for those brave Cuban souls. The neighborhood committees must have become weak over the decades. What the American public schools will not teach is that Communism and Oppression are one in the same, and the oppression usually takes the form of neighborhood committees that make sure everyone is a good little commie. Any suspicious behavior, like wanting more than your individual food quota, is immediately reported. The murder and imprisonment of the demonstrators, and their families, is no doubt already in progress.
The way things are going we’d have to immigrate to Kuba. If Kuba liberated itself THEN you’d see our glorious government invade to fix the situation unlike when Castroted came to power.

“Scolds” is another one I’ve picked up recently.
Tiananmen Square was a great tragedy. I don’t think there is agreement on how many died, but some say as many as 10,000. The Chinese people protested against their government, and the government struck back, and people died.
Here in America, we gave only a half-hearted attempt at the same thing. On Jan 6 people showed up to protest our loss of democracy. The government struck back and shot Ashli Babbitt. That ended our Tiananmen Square and we continue to be ruled by China, as far as I can see.
Maybe Cuba will be more successful.
Then they're all on board for the latest liberal fad. Idiots.
Our parents' generation were children of the Depression,WWII *and* Korea. They knew what hardship was...those who came after don't,with some exceptions,have the first clue what it's about.
As for Cuba...I can't say I'm optimistic. Far too many there depend on the government.
Nothing will happen in Cuba unless the Army joins the revolt.
Well, I was a bit tongue-in-cheek about Jan 6.
But I will say that I don’t see much evidence that America has the intestinal fortitude to stage anything like Tiananmen Square. Jan 6 was nothing like that. And so many Republicans have been apologizing for Jan 6 ever since. We are a cowed people.
Cubans are racists .. 🤓. Don’t they know the American flag is Xenophobic, Sexist, Racist, Homophobic and is hated by everyone? They need to fly the Chinese flag or the Gay pride flag... 🤓
Yeah they wave it in Cuba, the streets are filled with Cuban flags in Miami.

Agreed. The Cuban populace are unarmed and NO revolution is won without the aid of arms.
Marxists always teach history backwards. They start in the present identifying perceived inequity and oppression as their, "thesis," then work back altering, cherry picking, or deleting "evidence," to support their foregone conclusions, always within the frame work of class struggle.
A problem is, America is so rich and decadent that some people are so sheltered that they never have to grow up. Living the drug-hazed life of a Hunter Biden is their ideal.
The US is a Republic. Not a democracy.
