Armed citizens fire on rioters in Durban, South Africa. The police are unable to stop the rioting and looting or protect anyone so the people have to protect themselves.

My guess is, most neighborhoods are incredibly well-armed and stocked and each home is occupied by Paul Kerseys, rooftop Koreans, Dirty Harrys, Wyatt Earps and many others.

If the thin veneer of society comes loose from the world, and then that comes to their yard and messes with their: spouse, child, dog, truck, etc. in any way?

I predict the thin veneer of a polite society will be glued back down very quickly(!) and the polish restored much sooner rather than later.

As it is now, most of the problems come from only a few and most know who they are and are personally motivated to make those problems go away, but can’t for whatever reasons.

Unfortunately, nowadays the problems those few cause seem to be helpful in some way to the powers that be in charge, so those few are politically protected from receiving any meaningful justice and are often encouraged to cause problems, pain and damage.

Remove those powers that be in charge and see how the world changes.
