The launch of a Fox News weather channel has climate crisis experts concerned, report says

The upcoming launch of a new weather channel run by Fox News Media has some climate crisis experts deeply concerned, according to multiple reports.

The network, owned by media mogul Rupert Murdoch, announced in December 2020 that it would debut Fox Weather, a 24-hour channel devoted to all things meteorological, by the end of the year.

The channel promises "cutting-edge display technology" with "forecasting experts surrounding every major weather event," according to a press release.

The channel will be led by six meteorologists, including Jason Frazer, Britta Merwin, Craig Herrera, Brigit Mahoney, Nick Kosir, and Stephen Morgan, the New York Times reported. Shane Brown, a meteorologist from The Weather Channel, already defected to Fox last month.

As its debut date approaches, climate crisis experts are concerned that the network's weather arm will adopt the same rhetoric of its sister channel.

They say that Fox News has spent years undermining the idea of a man-made climate crisis with its biggest hosts, including Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham, repeatedly downplaying the global threat of the climate crisis.

A Public Citizen analysis in 2019 found that 86% of climate segments that aired on Fox News in 2018 included claims dismissing or casting doubt on the global threat.

"Fox News has access to and is highly trusted by a wide range of conservative Americans - which is precisely the audience that least well understands the serious threats that climate change poses to the safety, security, and health of all Americans," Edward Maibach, director of George Mason University's Center for Climate Change Communication, told the Guardian.

"The popular right-wing network has previously perpetuated climate misinformation."

Only in the Leftist media does telling the truth become 'misinformation'.

“Joe Bastardi is my, “go to” weather guy! https://www.weatherbell.com is my weather forecast site.”

I like him also. Bastardi would be a good acquisition for Fox Weather.

That Eric Shawn guy on Fox made that claim yesterday when his guest didn’t let him just lay down that turd and move on. Then the guest ( forgot he is maybe someone from Breitbart?) tried to get the host to say how many fraudulent votes there are and how he could say it didn’t affect the election. Good to see people pushing back on this false narrative that there was no proof of a stolen election and seeing them squirm.

“I wish they would hire Joe Bastardi.”
Your kidding right? Total loser.

If I read this correctly, you are calling Joe Bastardi a total loser.

If that was your intent, you are the loser.

If not, why?

[Edward] Maibach received a B.A. in social psychology from the University of California at San Diego (1980), a M.P.H from San Diego State University (1983) and a Ph.D. in communication research from Stanford University (1990). Before joining the faculty at George Mason, Maibach was the associate director of the National Cancer Institute, Worldwide Director of Social Marketing at Porter Novelli and a professor of Public Health at Emory University.

Sounds like the guy complaining is best suited as a propagandist. Small wonder his specialty is climate hysteria.

So then the ordinary weather channels have been feeding us propaganda.

More likely they will bring in some of the hot blondes and brunettes ladies in skin tight clothing.

This is very successful in Latin American countries.
Smoke show ladies telling us the temperature.

That “total loser” recently predicted a tropical storm when it was a thunderstorm off the west coast of Mexico. Before it even existed he accurately predicted the intensity and and pretty much exactly when and where it would hit. He’s a dork, but he knows what he’s talking about.

Oh we understand this issue perfectly well. It is being pushed on the West by a bunch of Leftists and evidence of that is that they TOTALLY IGNORE China, by far the biggest ‘polluter’, and also ignore the rest of the world, where air conditioners are being sold by the billions and coal plants are being built by the thousands.

...we know FULL WELL that this climate crap is simply an economic attack on the West, it’s obvious.

Noticed the shifts are way longer than on TWC, The Weather Channel. Not sure how long Amy Freeze is on but she started five hours ago with the guy on with her. Not watching so don’t know his name. But I did briefly find out the morning shift is 6 hours of Joe Fraser and Britta Merwin with Stephen Morgan also on. That’s the entire TWC show called America’s Headquarters or AMHQ which has two three hour shifts. 6-9am eastern and 9am-noon eastern. TWC then has a four hour shift Noon to 4pm e. And they end the day with Weather Underground 4pm to 7pm but sometimes do the shift when needed till 8pm. The channel then moves off to taped weather related programs ranging from viral videos, to educational programs to documentaries to reality shows from 8pm till 6am. That is unlike Fox Weather or FXW. Weather Nation is also 24/7 live weather coverage as well. All that said I welcome a competitor to WN and TWC.

Britta Merwin was on Weather Nation, but was never sure why she lasted so short. She was there on debut in 2015 and left in 2017. She moved back to Houston where she was at for years on local TV. Amy Freeze was in Tampa, Chicago and for a decade in New York City doing weather. Brigit Mahoney came from The Saint Louis area. Kiyana Lewis is also from the New York City market. Jane Minar was working in Augusta, Georgia. Brandy Campbell worked in Louisiana at Shreveport and New Orleans. They are using that studios that FNC acquired less than ten years ago and was used during breaking news.
