There's no rational decision flowchart that lands you here. No one, least of all Daniel Warner, thinks putting a 27-liter tank engine in a Ford Crown Victoria makes a lick of sense. Petty details like logic and reason won't stop him, though.
"It's not an intelligent choice of engine if you want to have 2500 hp and race. This is more just, I wanted to do this out of pure passion," Werner told Road & Track in June 2020. Back then it was just a goal. The car was far from operational. A year later, it's still got some distance to close, but a new YouTube video shows that the engine is now running. The so-called Meteor Interceptor lives.
There's still some distance to close, of course. The Meteor Interceptor has no interior, an incomplete body, and no transmission. The turbochargers are not hooked up to the mighty tank engine, meaning it's nowhere near its target power output of 2500hp. Given the idle issues, too, the team likely hasn't sorted the engine programming.

Good to know that some Swedish men still have some testosterone.
A 4wd pickup would have been my choice.
Just, cool!
To much $$$ and time on their hands.
Hahahaha Swedish Motorheads!
"Honey, me and the guys are going to spend all our free time and $$$ adapting 1,200 HP engine to an old police car. Oh and have dinner ready by 6:00"
Somehow I don't see this working for me....
Might also say ‘Swedish tweakers’. The Crown Vic is a tell.
Let’s see....... at 27,000 cc’s, that’s 22.5 times the power of my red 1963 Beetle
For many 1964 Americans, being passed by a VW was a personal insult
LOL, I can see my wife’s face when I tell her that...
ME: Honey, me and the guys are going to spend all our free time and $$$ adapting 1,200 HP engine to an old police car.
HER: Hmm. That’s nice, dear.
ME: Oh and have dinner ready by 6:00
HER: What?
ME: Hey! What’d I say? (rubbing bump on head from flying jar of peanut butter)
It looks surprisingly normal once they get the body work back on the frame.
Fun cars though.
One would have chosen something with SOME kind of pragmatic value, like say an F-450 dually 4wd, but hey, that's just one's own self.
They better bling that Crown Vic up real good...
“The turbochargers are not hooked up to the mighty tank engine, meaning it’s nowhere near its target power output of 2500hp. Given the idle issues, too, the team likely hasn’t sorted the engine programming. “
Well to begin with they are trying to run an engine designed to be turbocharged as a naturally aspirated engine. It is never going to run right no matter what they do until they put turbo pressure to that engine.
The compression ratio is not right for natural aspiration. The compression has purposely been reduced to accommodate the extra pressure of being turbocharged. The ratio is most likely down around only 6:1 which is almost too low to even run as naturally aspirated with no extra pressure.
Add a heavy high output, high lift and duration cam grind to that, and it is going to instantly want to try and load up because of insufficient fuel burn. Basically like trying to run it with the choke on all the time. Far far too rich of a burn with the cylinder combustion.
Where will they mount the cannon?
The car’s structural rigidity is gonna suck with the metal they’ve cut away. Forget turning.
I love that... Lol
Just needs to be painted and it would be cool as hell.
He’ll never pass smog.
