I’m not 100% sure whether this is unbridled arrogance or just jaw-dropping tone-deafness, but this is absurd. These are toxic sociopaths operating on a level of totalitarian outlook that is alarming as heck.
The American Federation of Teachers (AFT), a national union led by hard-line leftist Randi Weingarten, has announced adding $2.5 million to a legal fund specifically intended to fight parents for control over education curriculum.
Apparently the AFT feels they should be permitted to determine the curriculum of what they teach. Parents do not get a say in what is taught to their children; this is a remarkable admission of indoctrination. The arrogance of this is really quite remarkable and highlights just how out-of-touch with teaching the education system has become.
WASHINGTON – […] “Mark my words: Our union will defend any member who gets in trouble for teaching honest history,” Weingarten said in remarks for a virtual address to union members. “Teaching the truth is not radical or wrong. Distorting history and threatening educators for teaching the truth is what is truly radical and wrong.”
In an interview, Weingarten said the union is adding $2.5 million to an existing legal defense fund in anticipation of local fights over the teaching of race. The funding will be used to defend teachers who are disciplined for teaching about slavery and racism, Weingarten said. The union is also considering filing lawsuits to get clarification about new state laws limiting how racism can be discussed in schools, she said.
“We’re looking at these laws to see if courts will give some clarification in advance,” Weingarten said. “It just looks like it’s an attempt to erase so much of the history of the United States.” (read more)

It’s worth noting that AFT members do not get to vote for their state and national leaders. So the AFT membership did not elect Ms. Weingarten as president.
The state and national AFT leaders are instead chosen by shadowy groups of delegates. These delegates are hand-picked at the local level through mostly-sham elections.
And I find that richly ironic. The AFT talks about democracy all the time. But they run their own organization in a most undemocratic way. And there is no talk of any reform. As George Carlin once said, “Power does what it wants.”
I am waiting for one Republican—besides Trump—who will go on the attack against the Demonrat party and flat out state that THEY were the ones that:
1) fought a Civil War to preserve the institution of slavery
2) supported the KKK
(and, if my memory serves me right)
3)opposed the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
Think of the children they could feed, teachers they could hire, child care they could provide for working parents.
No - they want to defend and spend their money on hate.

The late great Author and investigative reporter Stanley Kurtz had been asked about this when he was interviewed about socialist plans for the suburbs.

The American Federation of Teachers, in its most recent journal, illustrates how postmodern ideology also dominates K-12 education. The issue paints America as under siege by the white supremacist power structure and urges its 1.6 million members to counter the pervasive “hostility and discrimination of people because of their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation/identity, immigrant … or disability status” by being activists in the classroom. The contempt that these communists have for the American family is enormous.
The Republican Party and Conservatives have been saying this since the 1980s, and it has failed spectacularly. Pulling kids out of public schools isn’t a real solution, it’s just retreating. Charter schools and private schools are becoming just as bad, and they will use the Courts and Department of Education to make sure they get just as indoctrinated. When that happens, they will move to ban homeschooling. Yale already had a workshop last summer where they were strategizing how to do it.
Not a problem for me. The schools are ‘free’, so I can buy that new truck and keep up with the Jones’. As to my kids being brainwashed to hate me and hate America, oh well, can’t have everything!
