Explanation: How many moons does Saturn have? So far 82 have been confirmed, the smallest being only a fraction of a kilometer across. Six of its largest satellites can be seen here in a composite image with 13 short exposure of the bright planet, and 13 long exposures of the brightest of its faint moons, taken over two weeks last month. Larger than Earth's Moon and even slightly larger than Mercury,Saturn's largest moon Titan has a diameter of 5,150 kilometers and was captured making nearly a complete orbit around its ringed parent planet. Saturn's first known natural satellite, Titan was discovered in 1655 by Dutch astronomer Christiaan Huygens, in contrast with several newly discovered moons announced in 2019. The trail on the far right belongs to Iapetus, Saturn's third largest moon. The radius of painted Iapetus' orbit is so large that only a portion of it was captured here. Saturn leads Jupiter across the night sky this month, rising soon after sunset toward the southeast, and remaining visible until dawn.

Do us all a favor... We like these APD posts, but not the fake and simulated pictures. When they are fake and or simulated, kindly say it in the title... so we dont waste our time

I agree.

I time-lapsed composite is not the same as a one shot image, because the former is not an image anyone approaching Saturn from any distance would see. A time-lapsed composite is closer to an “artist’s rendering” than a “naked image”.

Fake? I don’t see anything that’s fake. It’s simply sets of images combined to show or depict movements of the moons orbiting the planet. It’s all quite real.

How else could you show people this?

To do this in a one shot image depicting these orbits/movements, one would have to leave the shutter open for hours/days and it would look like chet. Or maybe a week long video?...lol.. Not practical.

LOL at first I thought that read “How many moops?”

He always has the remote! It’s very frustrating.

The solar system needs to start practicing moon equity. A bunch of big fat planets decided to hog all the really good cool moons for themselves and not share them with smaller planets. It’s so unfair and will no longer be tolerated. It’s racist!

‘Moonbat 1 over and out.’

I agree as well. I have no idea what that picture really is. Says six moons and there are a billion moons, or whatever that is there.

A picture with the seven moons as the title suggests... this is 7 moons... its a 117 moons due to manipulated photography. If I wanted to see this I would make them myself!

Tell you what, you try to duplicate what author of this did, put in all the time and effort, process all the data and report back with the images. Go ahead, give it a shot.

I’m about to go to bed... but I am free tomorrow and I will be 100% honest with you in how much time I put into the project. I do not have a image host, but I will post it on my FB page and post the link... I’ll tell you right now, it wont take me more than a half hour... 15 to 20 minutes of that will be searching for decent shots of Saturns individual moons. the rest is nothing but simple latering and scaling of the objects.
You wanna see fake pictures?? I’ll show you fake pictures...

MtnClimber: “so we dont waste our time”

Instead you are supposed to waste yours catering to sit rep’s demands.

M.C. You are doing him, in fact, all of us a favor by posting APOD. He can view it—or not— on an “as provided” basis. You have no obligation to act as his personal screener or send him special messages or comply with special conditions because several people are offended by what they consider Fake and Simulated photos. (Kinda woke in a strange way!) In any case, who decides what is fake?? Maybe sit-rep thinks that moon landing was fake and all the photos were faked.

If you don’t, before you know it you will have half a dozen other people demanding that you email them if its about Saturn or scorpio, or they want purple HTML Borders on the photos or some such thing.

sit-rep. “Do us all a favor” speak for yourself, don’t pretend to speak for all of us. You don’t.

okay then just go sit down and sthu...

post real pics... fake pics are bullshit plain and simple. how hard is that to understand? the man is appreciated by many, including myself. but it takse the same amount of eslf time to post real pictures as it does posting fake ones!! so just post real ones!! If NASA’s APOD is fake, go find a real one somewhere else!! its friggin simple!!
