“exactly the type of thing the current government is trying to stir up.”

Yes. When DH and I heard he story, the first thing we said was, “FBI”. Now it appears that one of the top dogs in Oathkeepers, against his own organization, was working undercover with the FBI to incite the chaos on January 6.

Notice how every photo was labeled with, “...Patriot Front, a white supremacist group...”

Now let’s see them do, “...BLM, a black supremacist group...”

Yes, this is suspicious. It’s appropriate to question an unannounced, spontaneous protest of a group nobody’s heard of. Upside down flags and full face coverings seem to have a purpose of intimidation, which is against the instincts of conservative patriots.

I’m also suspicious of those who demean anyone who questions this group, their purpose, and their tactics.

Personally, I think it’s kind of creepy and is exactly the type of thing the current government is trying to stir up.

Yes - and look at what the Weimar government stirred up without even trying.

The collectivists seem not to understand that stirring up racial unrest for fun and profit inevitably leads to unexpected consequences. Genuine conservatives are going to end up defending themselves from multiple directions.

Thank you, sauropod. I think we all post because we’ve thought about something and want to tell other people and hear their ideas on the matter. But there are a lot of people - and unfortunately this seems to be a big problem with conservatives - where “it’s my way or the highway, and btw, you’re a horrible person.” That doesn’t help conservatives in general and certainly doesn’t help anybody in particular.

Nobody has ever convinced anybody of the rightness of their position by doing a personal attack on somebody who holds a different opinion!

But most of the time on FR the discussions are good and civil and in fact half the time people will realize that they had misunderstood what their “opponent” was saying in the first post and will end up apologizing to each other. LOL!

So that’s one of the beauties of FR, which has so many good and decent people. Thank you again for trying to keep it that way.

I just wanted to call people’s attention to the fact that Trump in his rally last night called for justice for the people who have been locked up and are being otherwise persecuted for their participation in the January 6 legitimate, peaceful protests. I was very happy to hear this, and I hope that more people in Congress will now develop at least part of a spine.

But IMHO images like that bizarre group emerging from rented vans (probably trying to evoke the OKC bombing with its rented van) seem almost designed to support the Dems’ “right wing terrorist” narrative.

I note the logo of this Patriot Front has fasces in the center, which was the symbol of Mussolini's Fascist Party. (In fact, the fasces was the source of the term, Fascist, as it was a symbol of authority in the Roman Empire.)

Their manifesto states, "When our pre-Columbian forefathers left their European homes, they found a savage continent". This is an inaccuracy, as the first English settlers of what became the United States arrived a century after Columbus discovered the New World. More significantly, it goes on: "From the varied nations and cultures of Europe a new nation was forged in the flames of conquest. E Pluribus Unum was the new creed that bound our people together with their pan-European identity as Americans. To be an American is to be a descendant of conquerors, pioneers, visionaries, and explorers." This is clearly excluding anyone who is not of European descent. Of course, the founding of this republic was done principally by Protestants of British descent, but stating the facts would dilute the rhetoric of pan-European unity.

The Patriot Front is deliberately trying to be a white supremacist and fascist organization, just like the liberal media projects onto conservatives and patriots. Their rhetoric, and no penumbras or projections by the MSM, provides the evidence. This group is most likely organized by FBI agents, or others aligned with the Deep State, like the ADL or the SPLC. The militants are probably crisis actors, or dupes drawn into this group by plants funded by the enemies of this country embedded in the Federal government.

I’m not holding my breath. The McConnell / Romney crowd don’t want justice for the persecuted people rotting in solitary confinement. They’re going along to get along, and aren’t going to rock any boat. Sacrificing Trump supporters isn’t a problem for them; in fact, they dig it.

I'm in agreement with much of your analysis, but differ in my interpretation of what it means.

Yes, they are deliberately using a Roman/fascist symbol. (Of course it's quite commonly used in American public buildings too. The Lincoln memorial, Chicago's City Hall, many others)

Chicago City Hall

They are explicitly calling out the "pan-European" part of their ideology.

You have applied the term "White Supremacist" to them, that is a left-wing term, designed to put white people in a box with the nasty sounding name on it.

It's straight out of the SPLC dictionary, and they are quite liberal in their application of it. They will stick it on anyone right of Chairman Mao if they can. So, I avoid it, and so did they. I can disagree with their ideology (the Patriot Front) without smearing them with prejudicial terms invented by our enemies.

The term "pan-African" has been used for decades to describe groups that organize around their common heritage. (I first learned it in a high school class, in the 1970s)

Here is the intro to the Wikipedia entry for Pan Africanism:

Pan-Africanism is a worldwide movement that aims to encourage and strengthen bonds of solidarity between all indigenous and diaspora ethnic groups of African descent. Based on a common goal dating back to the Atlantic slave trade, the movement extends beyond continental Africans with a substantial support base among the African diaspora in the Americas and Europe.

Based on the belief that unity is vital to economic, social, and political progress and aims to "unify and uplift" people of African descent.

Any attempt by whites to organize to benefit ourselves is defined by our enemies as "Nazism" or "White Supremacy" while all other groups are praised and supported in organizing themselves for their mutual benefit.

Many majority black countries have "Pan African affairs" ministries, or government departments for dealing with other black countries.

To Boomers in America, like me, it seems odd to organize in this way. But I was born into a country that was almost 90% white (still over 88% white in 1970). There was no reason to organize as white people in America for our mutual benefit, the whole country was ours.

That's not what it's like for white kids now, though. In many public schools the white kids are a minority, and they are constantly indoctrinated with "white guilt", which many Americans are only now learning about (Critical Race Theory) but which has been in the schools for decades now.

Do you really want to continue to deny white young people the tools that every other group have?

I found the Wikipedia page for this group. Wikipedia is obviously a highly left-wing organization, so as you would expect the article on this group is pretty negative. What I found interesting about it though is this:

The Patriot Front is led by Thomas Ryan Rousseau. Rousseau was a teenager in Fort Worth, Texas, at the time he founded the group,

That was in 2017, so at most he's in his early 20s now.

The "Conservative Movement" failed to conserve most things that allowed us to live decent lives. As we've seen, the legal system is a tool of oppression now, elections are manipulated or fixed outright, drugs are everywhere, the culture is a toxic soup, children are assaulted by sexual deviancy in every corner of their lives, and the ethnic cohesion of the country has been destroyed. White kids are a hated minority in the nation that their great grandparents hewed out of the wilderness. Many of them have internalized the self-hatred. They want to destroy their "whiteness", by tattooing themselves from nose to toes, extravagant piercings, purple and green hair. And of course, they want to tear down what little remains of our once decent American civilization.

Arrest booking photos of Portland antifa arrested in riots over the last year.

I'm not going to fault them for looking at all the options out there, and using the same tools that their tormenters use. That it includes explicit group-organizing strategies, so be it. The blacks have the Black Congressional Caucus. Make that disappear and I might be willing to encourage these 20 year olds to take a different path. But, frankly, the ones that the Conservative movement has taken during my life have failed, pretty completely. I'm not going to go too hard on the people who have been left holding the bag.

Rome was certainly the greatest example of a United and powerful Europe (and parts of Africa and the Middle East), and I can understand how to a 20 year old White American there is something inspirational about that, which they just don't see in a lot of what is on offer around them.

Happy Independence Day!

Me neither. Not expecting anything. But I was delighted that Trump said that last night, even if it was sort of an afterthought.

I was traveling and wasn’t able to watch the live feed of the Trump event, but I followed it through some text sources (including FR). And then I reviewed it this morning.

I know there are a few folks in Congress who have said something, and I think even a Senator or two has made some mild murmurings.

But everybody should be upset about this persecution of demonstrators, most of whom were held for various periods of time without even being charged (violation of habeas corpus) and then charged with weird little things because the prosecutors had to save face.

How would the left feel if suddenly things changed and they all ended up in this situation? The Constitution was meant to protect everybody, even people you don’t like, but they don’t seem to get that.

So even though it wasn’t much, I was happy to see that he said this. I think I’ll send a few bucks his way and mention this in my email.
