Ronnie Dyson (1970) - If You Let Me Make Love To You (Then Why Can't I Touch You)
(1970) Ronnie Dyson - (If You Let Me Make Love to You Then) Why Can't I Touch You?) ^

This song was played on Top 40 radio constantly during the summer of 1970. I was just 7 years old at the time.

I always thought it was a woman singing this song until a few years ago I learned it was a guy.

Anyway, it was a great song and a little slice of pop music from the summer of 1970. Over a half century ago. I am now so old!

Ronnie Dyson died back in 1990 which is over 30 years ago at this point.

Had to look up what you meant by that. Funny thing, they HAD all been in a band together, the Glenwoods.

Yes, Red Rubber Ball as opposed to Rubber Ball by Bobby Vee, (for us real oldies)

You would be correct.

I was also thinking of the great Donnie Hathaway. Sang the theme from “Maude”.

He was the lead in the original production of “Hair.” He had a beautiful voice. He did the first version of “Just Don’t Want to Be Lonely” (The Main Ingredient had a hit with it) https://youtu.be/-mNaDmJ8hG0

I was just thinking about this song the other day. Heard it just passing through my head. I have not listened to classic rock for a long time.

My favorite tune by the Association. It was a hit in Southern California in the fall of 1966, but only rose to #35 on the Billboard Hot Hundred and never made the Oldies playlists.

Pandora's Golden Heebie Jeebies

I absolutely love Ronnie Dyson’s voice and this song, it’s in my top 10 favorites for the song but also the place it brings me back to, summer of 1970 when I was 12.

Thanks. Enjoy recovering old music memories and have a greater appreciation now for learning more about the artists than I did when I was younger.

I don’t remember that song at all. Lol

I do remember my 45 spinning with Led Zeppelin’s Immigrant Song

I remember this song. I was in the Air Force, and I thought about a girl back home that fit this song.
